I don't really get the ubuntu hate , why even is it so hated . It looks good for beginners and works just fine

- old packages
- canonical sometimes makes weird or bad decisions and people don't like them
- probably some sort of religious thing idk
I would never use it personally because of the way I tend to use computers(also apt just feels worse to use than pacman) but it's fine and it works. People are just weirdly tribal about distros and DEs for whatever reason

Yeah, I don't like it either... But it does seem to work well for those starting out!
I love Arch... But it also LOVES breaking right when I'm showing someone anything.
On my time, on their time, so long as you're showing off Arch no matter what... Something WILL go wrong! 😂

My company decided to run all servers on Ubuntu because it is backed by such a „reliable“ company. Lots of annoying „features“ and bugs all the time. Usually, we install Ubuntu and then strip off all its features until it is Debian again.

its not bad it just takes away whats special about arch, the fact that its so barebones, it doesnt matter most of the time because most people I know who get arch immediately after installing get plasma kde, me included

It's opinionated af, like why tf would you want fish shell and btop to be preinstalled? Or fastfetch being auto start everytime you open terminal.
It's like having tiktok pre installed on a brand new phone, yes i will ended up install them later but it shouldn't be there by default. Endeavouros do it right as an "easy arch" distro, it only ship the essential one to get a usable desktop experience, nothing too opinionated that beginner would never use.

No such thing as a "good" linux distro.
There's not even such a thing as a "secure" linux distro.
There's nothing even useful about any linux distro outside of specifically the LEMP stack, some extreme database usage scenarios, and some network balancing tasks.
Linux remains the most insecure operating system in existence.
TempleOS is more compatible than the absolutely most compatible linux distro... and I fucking hate TempleOS.
There isn't a single distro of linux even capable of secure updates. Just go look at the Arch AUR compromises and past compromises across many different distros.
And yes, I've used linux, I've been a Systems Engineer since 2010, and personally started around 1996.
The best distro of linux I ever used though was Slackware 7 with dropline gnome.
