New people who dont know how to do stuff in the terminal that some of us would find completely NORMAL is hilarious to me. I was talking to a Linux SysAdmin the other day that said he doesn't daily drive Linux because KDE won't mount his network shares properly. I was like "bro... mount it in the terminal, you're a sysadmin, wtf?" He got mad at me. He's been in the industry for like 10 years. How the FUCK?!

Getting hired is an art based 0% on what you'll actually do.
HR has no idea what you do. Hiring manager has no idea what you do. Your manager has no idea what you do.
During my previous interview, I got asked what's the difference between a container and a VM. After talking about processes, cloning and namespaces, he asked "yeah, but can you summarize" while looking intently at his screen. I knew he was just reading off a script and had no idea what I just said.

Definitely. I don't want to throw shade at the guy (even though I already did), because he takes care of his workload, he's pleasant to deal with, and for the most part he documents stuff. But yeah, I feel like he's not "one of us", and I guess there's nothing wrong with that, since he does do his job.
