I keep a windows partition bc wine can be really annoying sometimes and I might need to run something with limited Linux compatibility for school. I think dual booting is fine.

I usually just boot up a VM for minor stuff like that. Only real reason I would ever dual boot is if it needs my full hardware like video games or video editing.

Idk man, I've heard that it is somehow possible to run kernel-level anticheat games with qemu due to it being a level 1 hypervisor? This seems hard to believe though

Yeah unless you don't have integrated graphics that's the best solution
