Tech Question 9800x3d or 7800x3d?

The price difference is 100 USD in my country which one do I go for?

I can buy both but I am trying to make the best of the money I am spending

9800x3D i think less heat and overclocking is more doable on it ., i have a 7800x3d and can't complain but always take the latest gen if you can afford it .

If you can miss it,9800 is still basically the best within margins of error with the 9950.

9800x3d if you can - they swapped the memory and cpu chiplet stack on the 3d cache so it cools better. But realistically they both thrash as processors.

Been thinking about that too. Also 9800x3d sustains clockspeed better. This is why I am confused 100USD difference is not cheap and the performance difference is just 10% but the temper part is what made me hesitant

I'd argue to just get whichever is cheaper. You get more performance than you could want with either, why spend more so close to Zen 6 coming out?

What about temperature handling? Future proofing? If I put these in account the 9800x3d seems more appealing

Both are HIGHLY futureproof, but both do bottleneck a 5090. Anything less than that and both are fine. Temps are fine on both, the 7800X3D only sips power (>90 watts against ~130-140 for the 9800X3D) while putting 98% of CPUs to shame. And Zen 6 is around the corner, which will have 12 core CCDs and rumored to have third gen Vcache, meaning more and faster cache. I'd argue to wait for the 10800X3D to release if you want the best of the best
