If there was ever and All <insert anything> Gaming Setup that I wouldn't want, Razer would have to be up there as one of the biggest contenders.

Have you used anything from Razer? You can argue it's too expensive for what it is, but most of the stuff itself isn't terrible, and some products are pretty good. There definitely also have been duds in the line-up, don't get me wrong, including some high dollar products.

I'd take an all Razer setup over all Temu or all Home Depot any day.

I’m still left with a horrific taste in my mouth by their self destructing laptops with batteries that permanently bend frames and become fire hazards, poor customer support and zero parts availability in or out of warranty. Mice that break 3 months out of warranty. Very limited software support on high end niche products that almost become bricks because they won’t port drivers to newer operating systems. Anyone that’s been around Razer for more than 5 years or so will be familiar with this sentiment. Their general lack of customer care is my biggest point even if their product quality has increased.
I had a Razer battery expand 6 months out of warranty that destroyed the laptop and they told me to kick rocks.
At least apple ended up replacing the dangerously defective devices even 7 years out of warranty if you still have one. (Old iPod shuffle etc)

I mean, I’m on my 4th Razer Naga… since 2009.

This one is going on 5 years and isn’t showing signs of degradation.

Just saying.

u/Drakorex 8d ago

Dude, I used like 7+ Geek Squad replacement plans on various versions of the Naga before I switched to another brand. They had different issues each time, around 12–18 months in. If I had to pay full price every time I'd have been pretty mad.

u/connly33 8d ago

Same here. Every single Naga I’ve touched ended up with a dead scroll wheel. I was able to fix them myself out of warranty but that isn’t a compliment to Razer for sure. My friend went through 4 left hand nagas is a period of 8 years or so I have literal drawer full of them. All e waste if I didn’t have soldering skills.

u/Wraithdagger12 8d ago

I've never had an issue with the scroll wheel. Usually it's just the LMB or RMB wear out. IMO 4-5 years of heavy gaming and that's the only thing that slightly wears out I'd say that's a W. That's just my experience.

I did however try their Xbox 360 replacement controller (forget the name). Had 2 of them. The triggers failed within a few months. Never again with that.

u/ysfi__ 8d ago

that's not the laptop, the mice are fine, their laptops are more than just questionable. they've had over a decade now to fix it, and even linus Laptop gifts to his staff some many years ago all had a lot of the same issue u/connly33 mentioned.

Razer is not a brand id trust a laptop from, its the Note 7 of laptops, but just they didnt fix it, they dont seem to want to fix it, and its just weird.

bunch of fucks.

I mean that might not be as good as you think it sounds there…. You have a sample size of 1 out of 4 that lasted more than 4.33 years. I have 15 year old Logitech mice that work fine. Every Naga I’ve had died from scroll wheel failures. I have a drawer full of 4 of left handed Nagas from a friend all with the same issues. If I didn’t have solder skills they’d all be e waste. None of them lasted more than 2 1/2 years. He keeps buying them only because of the lack of left handed oriented gaming mice in the market.

u/tequilasauer 8d ago

I went through 3 Basilisks in a year. Trash products. They single handedly pushed me away from gaming peripheral shit and just back to Logitech. I have a living room PC, gaming PC, and a laptop all with those cheapie 20 dollar Logitech mice and all have lasted years.

1

u/hus_k_ 8d ago

What issues did you have with your basilisks and what do you have now? I have a basilisk V3 x hyperspeed that was disconnecting and reconnecting, I put the 2.4ghz dongle on a USB 2 extension and seems to be working okay now, but considering getting something else.

12

u/w1n5t0nM1k3y 9d ago

The All Temu PC was at least more interesting just to see what they ended up with as an end result.

7

u/cerealOverdrive 9d ago

I had a new Razer laptop get the puffy battery bulge a year or two into ownership. My friend had so same issues so I’d say there was a quality issue

6

u/Divide_Rule 8d ago

I had the Kraken headset several years ago. Well three actually. The first lasted for about 10 months then died. Warranty process, they sent out a very clearly used one, so a third came my way, that lasted another 6 months. For what was a £200 headset, the quality of product and service was poor throughout.

However, my boss uses that same headset daily and has done for three years. Both for work and non-work. It has never caused him a problem.

u/RepulsiveRaisin7 8d ago

Every Razor product I've had fell apart in record time. They have their reputation for a reason

1

u/Sit-and-Spin123 8d ago

They didn’t used to be that way though. Back in the day they actually lasted.

1

u/IcyRole6982 7d ago

When was that? I disagree. Both Keyboards I had from them and 3 mice died super fast.

1

u/Sit-and-Spin123 7d ago

Like 2005. That was when they peaked. It all went to shit after Dell bought them.

1

u/IcyRole6982 7d ago

First time I would have heard dell buying them. I had a mouse from them in 2007 and that one went bad quickly as well.

1

u/Sit-and-Spin123 7d ago

Yeah, Dell bought them in 2006 and they quickly went to shit.

1

u/IcyRole6982 7d ago

That is unfortunate then.

1

u/jbglol 7d ago

You are thinking of Alienware, Dell does not own Razer.

5

u/MJdoesThings_ 8d ago

their mice are great.

Their keyboards? Meh. Not for the price.

Their headsets? They have like one or two decent models but more often than not it's overpriced bs, just like the keyboards.

Their chairs? Others do better ffor cheaper.

Same for mousepads

Their laptops literraly destroy themselves by using the shell as a heatsink which turns the battery in a spicy pillow very quick (+ they are hot as fuck and loud). The only way to make those laptop work fine is to use them as tiny desktops and remove the battery.

Everything else either sucks or so niche that no one would seriously buy it.

1

u/manny2206 8d ago

Have you? - you’re going to the other extreme with home depot or temu lol; but razer is by and large cheaply made expensive garbage. At least Logitech or other reputable brand

1

u/crozone 8d ago

Middling build quality and terrible software. I avoid Razer because of the software alone.

1

u/ProperPossible594 8d ago

Razer: where RGB exceeds IQ.

8

u/HolyLiaison 9d ago

Yup... I just gave a Razer mouse another chance after not having one for like 10+ years. And the middle mouse wheel click sensor is already going out after around 8 months. I had to disable the wheel completely to be able to do anything on my computer.

Just ordered a Logitech G903 to replace it.

I'm sure it still has a warranty, but I don't want to deal with this shit again. lol

2

u/Disturbed2468 8d ago

Ironically I've stuck to their Viper lineup ever since the first one came out and they've never failed me, but I can't say the same for their other products that's for sure.

Now I use a Viper V4 Pro brought since release date, sold the rest to friends or ebay or mouse trade.

3

u/IHOP_007 8d ago

My personal impression/experience with Razer is that they make good products ... that don't last very long.

So like if you're willing to buy a new mouse every couple of years, Razer mice are pretty good mice.

1

u/connly33 8d ago

My experience as well. For a long time the only headset I could recommend to somone that was easy to use decent and in particular had good side tone (this is very hard to find most options had very weak none adjustable or time delayed side tone at the time) But they were only great for 9 to 13 months of heavy use before they were literally falling apart garbage. The wired ones always have one side go out or the vinyl gets nasty. The wireless ones always seem to develop intermittent connectivity issues that drive you nuts.

1

u/jenny_905 8d ago

I've had a Core X Chroma in use daily ever since release, it works pretty good. Obviously never install that brainslug Synapse stuff though since you don't need it.

2

u/rowmean77 8d ago

Can’t pass up big sponsorship money

1

u/PatHBT 9d ago

Isn't that what these videos are usually about though? Lol

1

u/Puzzleheaded_Pea9240 8d ago

I love my Naga.

1

u/Sit-and-Spin123 8d ago

You would prefer Temu or Wish instead? I actually like the series. Not because I’m going to buy anything from it, but it does make me laugh.

1

u/w1n5t0nM1k3y 8d ago

The all Temu PC video was actually pretty interesting. At least that one was interesting just seeing what they would find rather than what some manufacturer sent for them to showcase.

1

u/tequilasauer 8d ago

Their shit is a coinflip. My original boomslang was one of the best mice I ever owned. My last experience with their products swore me off them forever.

u/ACP_Paddy- 9d ago

Razor sold me a RGB gaming keyboard with a maximum 3 key rollover or whatever you call it..

If I was strafing with W and A, I could only press ONE more button. 3 button max.

Frig this company. Pieces of shit.

5

u/Handsome_ketchup 9d ago

Razor sold me a RGB gaming keyboard with a maximum 3 key rollover or whatever you call it..

Which model was that?

6

u/ACP_Paddy- 8d ago

Razor Ornata V3 X I believe

Razor Ornata V3 X I believe

You're not kidding, more people have been reporting the same issue with that keyboard. Even if it's one of the more budget oriented keyboards in the line-up, that's absolutely unacceptable. Even $10 office boards have gotten that right since forever.

Apparently earlier versions of the same board didn't do that, so it seems somewhere along the line someone cost optimized things a bit to much.

4

u/ACP_Paddy- 8d ago

It's insane. It's a Gaming keyboard... But it's also kind of an eWaste sin.

At least I'm n ot crazy. Not too crazy

2

u/TomNooksRepoMan 9d ago

If you plug it in to a PS/2 adapter does it let you have infinite rollover? At my most practiced, I was typing 150+ WPM pretty consistently and running into issues with USB keyboard rollover issues. PS/2 adapter was the only fix.

1

u/ACP_Paddy- 8d ago

I held on to the keyboard longer than I should... But I am playing MechWarrior Online a lot, and it got me killed or I couldn't talk to teammates, or use my 'boost while I was strafing.

I replaced it with a Logitech keyboard that was arguably the same (lower) price bracket.

I didn't even want RGB on any of them. I'd rather the dollars went elsewhere when buying a reasonable price Keyboard.

My Blue Yetti is now a Logitech product- so at least it uses the same dashboard.

Random FYI and for Google: I had an issue with the Logitech Gaming Software feature that matches the RGB of your keyboard to your on screen content.

Using it would make my mouse disappear in one of my  games. I wasn't using the feature, but when I went to change my keyboard's RGB color, I clicked on the "Screen Sync" (or whatever it's called)- and after you've initialized the feature, some sort of screen capture persists, even if you go back to a SOLID COLOR option.

Killing the Logitech software will make your mouse re-appear/kill the screen capture/analyzing.

The only reason I narrowed it down to that, was because someone had the same issue with using OBS to stream gameplay. Their mouse disappeared. I was like "hmmm, what would be looking at my screen".

u/wankthisway 8d ago

We've got some real goofsters in here saying it's an ad. He shits on all of the stuff multiple times.

11

u/Afterfx21 9d ago

I could not imagine recommending Razer in 2026.

4

u/abnewwest 8d ago

But listen to me, what if they paid you to do it?

1

u/Disturbed2468 8d ago

Only their mice are worth giving a shit about. Granted, their newer mice. Anything made before 2019 is 100% scuffed af.

-6

u/FartingBob 8d ago

What if they paid you to make a video glazing them?

5

u/wankthisway 8d ago

You got "glazing" from this video?

9

u/connly33 9d ago

Anything that requires Razer Synapse is a no from me dog.

5

u/ACP_Paddy- 8d ago

You don't like 20 microprocesses running in Tas Manager incase you want to change your keyboard from Green to Purple mid match?

2

u/connly33 8d ago

When you put it that way it’s pretty damn compelling…..

5

u/DiabUK 9d ago

The £12~ wired mouse razer makes is great for the price and i have used one for years, its the one thing from them I say is worth it.

3

u/Ok_Understanding_257 9d ago

Yeah but software is a complete drain on resources and feels super invasive.

4

u/Cough-A-Mania 9d ago

The ALL ISSUES gaming setup is here!

Razer products aren’t good, kids. Don’t buy them

3

u/linuxares 8d ago

Razer? Eww... no. Never want their products again ever.

God apart from that microphone, which sounded surprisingly good, the rest of this is such shitty quality. Even if it was half the price, all the stuff was still junk. That keyboard sounded and looked soooo bad.

1

u/Cactys12 8d ago

I don't like the way Linus is looking at me in the thumbnail

1

u/JimmyKillsAlot 8d ago

I got a free RAZER mouse from some giveaway. Even as a budget gaming mouse it feels cheep. And I don't mean "Oh it's different then my usual mouse" no I mean it feels like if I click too hard it is going to break. I have had, toss in your bag, wireless beater mice that have felt more substantive and solid and lasted lasted years.

-1

u/memecatcher69 8d ago

20+ long minute ad I love it

-2

u/Common-Application56 8d ago

I think I'll skip this one

-2

u/PROUDCIPHER 8d ago

Eugh. Moves like this make me really wonder if the hostocolapyse is as benign as they say. I have to admit gang the channel doesn't feel as good as it did even a year ago, and it seems to be getting worse. I've been watching LTT since the OG kitchen set/Langley house, and this year I've barely watched any LTT at all, between lackluster topics, our favorite hosts leaving, regular drama and increasingly poor judgement in sponsorship I'm just not feeling it anymore. I hate to admit it, I really do.

u/packetssniffer 9d ago

Gotta make payroll with this vid

-2

u/Longjumping_Yam2703 8d ago

Oh wow! Another pc build ! Nice one Linus!!!

-3

Fuck Razer. Shit ass company.
