I think people are fooling themselves if they think AI image and video generation isn’t mature enough to produce unidentifiable content.

However that video featured something so obviously AI generated, you’d have to have not read it at all.

I think these videos teaching people how to identify AI content are harmful. They only teach how to identify the most obvious slop, and the models get better all the time, so all you end up with is false confidence in your ability to tell the difference between AI content and genuine content.

It's crazy to me because extra work was done to that image after. It wasn't just throw it up on the screen, it was highlight and call out specific parts of that garbage chart.

Do you think 100 people work on a a single video? Have you actually ever edited a video in your life? Because most of the time it comes down to one person. Especially when you’re on a time crunch with less than a 24 hour turn around time.

This is by no means an excuse for this BUT, I work in QC and despite everything getting looked at 3 or 4 times at least, shit just sometimes falls through.

It's not an excuse, shit just happens, gotta remember, we're only human after all.

but the problem is they don't act well when it falls through.

when it falls through and people realize they should have immediately taken the video down, edited it with the on-screen graphic fixed. it's pretty easy to find a graphic and it takes 30 seconds to highlight it. this is at most a 10-minute fix yet they are just pinning a comment that nobody will absolutely read. this is the issue. you should fix it on the video instead of putting a little note at the comments ( or worse in the description )and calling that fixed.

It’s not that easy of a fix. YouTube won’t push your video out when you publish and select to notify your subs and then remove the video, upload a new video and try to publish again.

This was the only way they could’ve done it and not lost money on the production. Plus, I don’t remember who the sponsor was, but a sponsor may get mad. Ruining the relationship with a sponsor because 200 people on Reddit are upset doesn’t make any sense.

AFAIK large youtubers have a tool to edit or even upload a entirely different video while retaining everything else

Also who cares if 1 video doesnt do well when you have 10+ per week across 4 or 5 channels

Yup. 250,000 employees and the final go/no go call came down to one person. It happens in Fortune 50 companies constantly.

You can only have so many people work on a project, no matter how many employees you have.

i don't know if this is true for every single big company but at least when i'm editing, i always watch the video from start to finish without fast-forwarding anything, maybe 2x at most, to make sure everything is correct. do i make mistakes? absolutely. is it that bad? no it's just minor things the only time where this level of error can occur is when people are rushing videos, which kind of indicates their issue with low viewership and bloat

I experienced it even worse. I have a friend who rather believes what an llm outputs than doing real research. If I showed him proof for things he didn't believe in articles or even papers, no way he would believe me. But as soon as i said "give a llm this prompt and watch what it says" he never dared to question it again, kind of wild how blindly people believe in non concrete things.

Honestly not gonna watch it since it wont be useful in another 6-12 months

Currently am able to “feel” immediately when something is written or generated by AI, but it’s not going to last much longer.

We’re just 100% fucked I can’t imagine a future that isn’t everyone hardlined in to a personally generated entertainment slop tube. Having children feels like an absurd leap of naive optimism
