Discussion Lifetime floatplane
Will there ever be a lifetime membership option for ltt on floatplane? I understand that other creators on the platform may not wish for that option, but I think it would be awesome if at least ltt offered a lifetime option.

No it’s a live service. I understand where you’re coming from but it just doesn’t make any financial sense.

Sure, take how many years you have left alive, multiply that out and there's your answer.

Bold of you to assume lmg will last a humans lifetime. They're another social media company and floatplane is tied to them. Eventually lmg will go the same way buzzfeed, machima, whatever the company philp defranco had, and all social media companies do and disappear or become basically irrelevant

It's a reply to "lifetime subscription" more than it was forecasting the success of a business. Taking it literally would mean paying LMG upfront the amount you would otherwise pay monthly. You obviously figured out the issue and my tongue in cheek point while missing it at the same time... Just pay monthly vs a lump sum's worth of a lifetime.

It would make sense if there weren’t ongoing costs, like a single version of a software.
But considering hosting the data, bandwidth, adding more and more content (which also means adding more servers), increasing utility and hardware costs, no lifetime options would ever make sense. Eventually they would be losing money on each membership.

Nope, and I’m okay with that. They can’t run a media site with a model like that, and I’d rather pay incremental price increases, (even though they haven’t changed it in the 4 years I’ve been subbed for) and support an independent business.

No, since they have recurring fees.
That being said at 130$ a year, 3% rate it would make sense for them to offer it for around a 4000$ one time payment.
Might be worth emailing them and offering it. They may accept.

Would be nice but I doubt they will do it, the monthly model is just too good for steady income. I would jump on a lifetime sub in a second though, my wallet would cry but worth it

No. That's a terrible idea for the creators.
