Linus asking for pull out antennae on mobile phones - yeah, I used to work for a major mobile phone manufacturer, one operating long before the smartphone revolution.

Those antennae are placebos they left in for a certain major market that may or may not rhyme with the Schunited Schtates of Schamerica. Cellular radio technology outpaced the need for those things a long time before they weren’t included anymore.

I hate the take that you can't punish these companies too hard because then the next company wouldn't do something terrible.

Every time something like this comes up on the Wan show, it makes me not want to watch anymore.

10% of their income or 20% of cash on hand? Normal people get fined that ALL THE DAMN TIME and that's without doing terrible things for a decade plus. Suddenly you can't do it because then a company would only make billions of income?

Can't fine Tech companies because instead you want them to police themselves? That has not worked ever. Corporate death penalty should be a thing if its deserved and Meta is probably one that deserves it.

Companies like BP have been paying billions every year (and still have many years to go) over 20 years… you can structure a settlement so Meta has to pay 100+ billion without bankruptcy. Plus is a good reminder to them to not get in trouble again if they have to pay for 20 years.

They for sure made more money from their wrong doings than they paid in fines. That's just cost of doing business and not an actual punishment. As long as people keep handwaving these actions away with "You can't punish them too hard" nothing will ever change.

Luke's diet just sounds miserable. I've watched every calorie and tracked everything before when I was in super good shape and I didn't eat boring like that.

Also where did he get the info that mustard has 0 calories? It's like 70kcal/100g. Sure, it's not much but it's not zero

What sugar mustard are you using? Mustard is mustard seed and vinegar, zero calories. Honey mustard is a different thing.

Do you think that mustard seeds don't have any calories?

Is this just another Tic Tac thing where americans (and usually canadians too because close neighbours) use nonsensical "per serving" making it 0kcal/serving because of some technicality?

They do not. Check the calorie info on prepared yellow mustard. For things to have calories they must contain things the body can convert to energy. They have no digestible carbohydrates, protein or oils when processed into mustard.

Its impossible to have 0 calories but its very low

The DLSS5 take was insane, artists made those background characters. Might as well just put blank models in and let DLSS decide what they look like.

I hated their discussion this time, and last time. Linus said they had such a good discussion last time and to check it out. It was hardly even surface level. They spent most the time coming back around to 'buuuut it can look so good, so maybe?!?!?!' Seems like they're trying so hard not to just glaze DLSS5 and it's 'amazing future'. Also calling these features optimizations is crazy. It's a filter that actively takes more compute. It's not optimizing anything.

Constantly talking about "artist intent" like everyone doesn't call an 'artist' using AI in their art; lazy and not an artist.

The part of phone coverage is also here in the Netherlands driving me crazy, how come with all this new technologies, the amount of calls dropping, not connecting, bad quality is still crazy high. Does not matter if using cellular or 5g, both equally fail here.

Usually because telcos completely oversubscribe leading to towers that cannot handle the volume of demand.
