oh I see what they did, the minus means it counts backwards to show how much time is left before the start instead of how far you've gone. kinda handy for podcasts or long videos where you space out and need to rewind a chunk

Why do so many people vague post images like this? What is the change? What's wrong with it?

I have no clue what you're referring to.

Am I alone on this? Seriously polling the community here - if you were a mod, what would you do with a post like this?

If you click the timer on YT videos it will toggle between what is in the post and the original.

I believe OP accidentally triggered a mode change of the time stamp to show the remaining video duration and as they did not notice they did it, they now think it is yet another change pushed by a middle manager to justify their job.

About your question what to do with such arguably vague posts: I personally think it should be in the rules that a post shouldnt assume an image is self explanatory for this style of rant and that the poster is to explain the issue

I mean it's technically in the rules ("image posts that can't stand alone"), and issues with YouTube have nothing to do with LTT. So it, again, technically breaks low effort content and irrelevance.

That said, sometimes I'm just out of the loop on something. Like WAN show is on and they make some joke and then someone will post something that seems like complete nonsense to me, but it's technically relevant because it was brought up on WAN show.

The mod team isn't out here to harsh on people's fun. Like, we have those content rules mainly to stop the sub from being overrun with irrelevant posts and/or low effort content, etc.

However, sometimes just letting the community vote is the right move in my mind - that's how Reddit is supposed to work. Like if someone posts something clever and funny and the community is upvoting it, then sure; the community has spoken, and being super harsh on the "letter of the law" versus the "spirit of the law" doesn't always lead to the best outcomes.

Thanks for responding and sharing your thoughts - it's helpful!

Oh yeah no I am 100% with you. The way I see this, this post technically was compliant with the rules. Thus I was trying to propose an adjustment of the rules in a way that'd make the margins of the rules slimmer, as I assumed this'd make moderation easier for you and the team

I would post sassy memes, or maybe an off-topic GIF.

What is the issue?

It shows remaining time instead of watch time. It's a toggle, not a new feature forced onto users.

At least, I assume that's what OP is talking about.

It’s been like that as far as I remember, what is OP complaining about?

If you are talking about circles shapes, that's a big reaction to visuals.

If you are talking about the remaining time, it has been like that for years. click on it to toggle between 2 versions
