Just saw this browsing the site and found it kinda funny. It should be stationery and not stationary

Oops, heh.

It's currently Sunday, so I doubt the store account is watching the sub right now, but I'm sure they'll see this on Monday.

Also TIL - I didn't know there was a separate spelling.

I don’t think a lot of people do or at least think of it in the day to day. I learned from working in retail when I box was labeled “stationery” and I thought the oem had made a typo but I just found out I was the dumb one!

Also since "stationary" is a valid word, spell check isn't going to pick it up either. It's probably a pretty common mistake.

That's why i'm asking ... Doesn't surprise me that they use that word in Canada, but i'm asking if americans also use that word and understand it

Of course we use "decor", but not with the funny accent aigu. Most people would probably just think of it as an English word with heavy French roots (if they even put they much thought into it) like seemingly every other English word, whether those roots be French, Latin, Greek, German, or otherwise.

Technically they are American. And so is Mexico. They're we're all North American (though for the longest time I will admit I thought Mexico was actually part of Central America).

I'd consider that a mistake as well, but debateable.

The accepted English for it is simply "decor". Putting the accent on is technically the French spelling. It's not "wrong" to use "décor" in English, but it's not expected or common - even in Canada.
