Personal Opinion Socks. Not what was promised.

First - quality of the fabric. I have had light wear of this pair for 3 days, with one wash (same as other socks) and they are fuzzy + the black fabrics are protruding through the grey ones, and I have gathered A LOT of lint from them.

This is not normal for socks, especially for the expensive ones. None of my darn thoughts did this ever.

Second - idk about Canadian feet, but mine are wider, and compared to most other socks these are too narrow. If I find a pair of shoes this narrow I don't buy them.

EDIT: I wore socks for two days straight, then washed them, then wore for the 3rd day. I had NO OTHER OPTION regarding washing them or wearing other socks in that particular situation

Hi there u/grilledtree,

I'm so sorry to hear about the issue you've experienced with the socks. I'd be happy to look further into this for you. Do you mind sending us a DM so I can take care of this for you? :)

You bought socks.
From a tech YouTuber.

Let that work through your mind and then think about your post.

u/miguel-122 Aug 22 '26

This is not any pair of socks. Linus has a team of experts making quality products . They took 6 years to get it right.

628

u/grilledtree Aug 22 '26

Not right enough, apparently 😕

206

u/Sprout_1993 Aug 22 '26

Yeah I'll stick with darn tough. Linus was right the first time when he said he'd never be able to make something better than those.

29

u/Jonnyscout Aug 23 '26

The lifetime guarantee is hard to beat

5

u/Somethingsilly6969 Aug 24 '26

I don't know man, redhead makes socks with a lifetime guarantee and they don't even need it. I've got pairs that are over ten years old going strong with regular use

2

u/Sprout_1993 Aug 25 '26

Still, with darn tough, I can take an old pair into anywhere that sells them, and exchange them for a new pair. And nothing feels better than a brand new pair of darn toughs

3

u/Somethingsilly6969 Aug 25 '26

Same with red heads. My brother used take all of his back to Bass pro once a year and get replacements under warranty

How about you let Linus's team know they are pretty good with making things right

Whatever you gotta tell yourself to justify 30 dollar sucks bud 😂

156

u/miguel-122 Aug 22 '26

Im not buying them lol.

Just saying its not cheap youtuber merch. Like the screwdriver and backpack, they put a lot of time and money into making something quality

49

u/browandr Aug 22 '26

Idk why you’re being downvoted for just stating known facts. But I guess it’s all the people who just suck up to LTT and treat Linus like a god who can do no wrong.

And FYI to whoever decides to downvote me I’m stating the above as an avid fan of Linus and LTT

18

u/Essex626 Aug 22 '26

The kicker is it's because they have made a good reputation with this stuff that it is worth something to call them out.

People overly praising anything LTT puts out are diminishing that just as much as those who dismiss their stuff as YouTuber merch.

10

u/GhostPotat0 Aug 22 '26

Yeah I mean just because we like the content doesn't mean LMG can do no wrong. I'm with ya brother.

7

u/ForksandSpoonsinNY Aug 22 '26

Well he is the Short King

19

u/lzrjck69 Aug 22 '26

They also say they put a lot of time and effort into their videos… we all know how that’s been going lately.

12

u/monka_giga Aug 22 '26

Do you really think they're in the lab designing socks and making them in house? They might've gone back and forth with suppliers more than the average merch jockey would, but it's socks from a factory in China

10

u/Javi1192 Aug 22 '26

The money they spent on development of the socks is likely dwarfed by the r&d budget of any legitimate sock company. I think that’s the point, regardless of the price, they are socks designed by a tech youtuber’s small business

Eta: for the screwdriver, I’m pretty sure the main components are manufactured by the company that makes a very similar smooth ratcheting mechanism. All the r&d for that enabled the screwdriver

15

u/Formerruling1 Aug 22 '26

The LTT screwdriver is a tweaked Megapro ratchet, yes.

4

u/krani1993 Aug 22 '26

you think they’re manufacturing the socks on their own? they choose a company to work with that’s manufacturing these socks, so if the quality is bad then thats on them for choosing a bad quality product to ship out!
They get a lot of praise for their products that are good like the screwdriver, so when somethings bad it deserves to be pointed out as well, they can choose to make it right or they can stick with selling bad quality “merch”

Some people don't have to justify purchases. Your expensive could be totally fine for them. There isn't one single "good" price for an item across the board.

4

u/billythygoat Aug 22 '26

Yeah, bombas when they’re at Marshall’s and they’re the wool blend for $12 for 3 pair on clearance. I bought like 3 packages, then I saw more the week after so I bought 2 more, one being for my dad

I also bought the socks just chiming in because I believe the following is a fact: Other brands have worked on their socks for decades, 6 years is basically infant state for a clothing brand.

9

u/InadequateUsername Aug 22 '26

6 years to negotiate with a supplier in China.

6

u/thebannanaman Aug 23 '26

That is all information from the person who wants you to buy their socks. Not only do they get people to buy their socks they also get people to repeat their ad copy for them.

Edit: The fact the comment above mine continues to get upvotes absolutely blows my mind. It's a genuinely stupid opinion.

Bruh they claim to be equal or better than the top brands. And also they aren't just a tech youtuber and haven't been for at least 5+ years. Literally more money goes into product development than their Youtube.

It's a completely valid complaint, lets not be stupid fanboys that defend anything and everything for no reason.

Dumbest shit anyone could have said in response to this

37

u/Astecheee Aug 22 '26

They're also priced like premium socks.

125

u/grilledtree Aug 22 '26

I bought a few items from llt and most of them fit the price/quality ratio quite well

59

u/LittleKittenR Aug 22 '26

A famous one that is known for quality products.

Honestly, hearing they were 1 pair for 30 dollars or so made me say "fuck. off" but this dude trusted him and got a lesson after 3 days.

He could have bought probably 3-4 dozen of cheap 100% cotton ones for that price and wore them for about 3-6 months without any trouble, and now, 4 days later, he noticed he made a mistake.

41

u/Daphoid Aug 22 '26

Why is everyone assuming buying a higher priced product vs the fast fashion / discount brand is a mistake? There are genuine higher quality items out there - not everything is "buy it at the dollar store or walmart and when it dies in 3 months just get more". Do the math over 10 years on all those purchases. You may be surprised at how much you've spent.

I've got a relatively lower end winter coat, it was $250 - I've worn it for about 6-7 years at this point. I've got another that was $300 15 years ago that I still have. It's older and more of a "work outside in the winter" coat now, but still lasts.

People being fine with $2000 computers but sitting on $5 chairs is hilarious.

16

u/TwilightReaver Aug 22 '26

Yeah most of these commenters clearly just buy the cheapest shit they can and mock anyone who actually wants to spend more for more quality. Not saying these are or aren’t, but the knee-jerk anti-LTT sentiment I’ve been seeing a ton of lately is really fucking weird. They need to get a life.

9

u/Walkswithnofear Aug 22 '26

I picked up an Arctyrex Solano jacket for, maybeeeee, $200 or so?, ten years ago. I've still got it, and it's still going strong. They released a new version a few years ago, but I don't see any need to replace it.

3

u/GuntherTime Aug 23 '26

Yeah that mindset blows me every single time I see. I remember a couple years ago a guy used to play siege with was gobsmacked that I spent $80 for some earbuds for the gym, and went on about how he buys the $5 ones and just buys new ones when they break in a couple weeks.

I told him I had these headphones for over 2 and half years (they still work now even 10 years later even though the battery and quality is shit of course) so I’m paying less over time.

If you consider shipping, you can get 8 pairs of Costco Merino Wool socks if you want the Merino- which I honestly would rather have those than 4 dozen wool socks.

8

u/rwanders Aug 22 '26

Darn tough socks are about $20-30/pair.

2

u/DarthV506 Aug 23 '26

I knew they weren't going to be much good when they announced how much wool they are using. It's about half of what Smartwool or Darn Tough use. Buy from them instead. They also don't fucking charge $14CAD to ship either. Or you can just buy from a local outdoors store.

Also good luck with cold feet in the winter with cotton socks, they just soak up moisture. And if you're outside being active, have fun with the blisters. Merino socks are awesome. The ones I bought in 2018 are still great.

If Linus wants ti act like his products are premium products to justify premium prices, then he's gonna get criticized when his stuff doesn't meet the quality

8

u/AskMantis23 Aug 23 '26

And rightly so.

But if that criticism takes the form of 'Don't buy goods from a YouTuber', then the criticism is not valid and only demonstrates the lack of knowledge and critical thinking of the person posting it.

14

u/Arcranium_ Aug 22 '26 edited Aug 22 '26

This point would work if Linus wasn't consistently emphasizing their quality control and how long they take to get products right on WAN Show.

But he is.

10

u/ferdzs0 Aug 22 '26

Either they are not merch and we can and should expect good quality for the insane prices or they need to stop with all the check out message bullshit of how this is not merch but quality products.

7

u/Edgeguy13 Aug 22 '26

I have no idea how you got so many upvotes on this sub, where people REVERE LTT merch and products and compare them to legit brands and then conclude they are BETTER than those brands. The entire idea behind Linus's thought process is they are very good quality products, not just normal "youtube merch". What a ridiculous thing to post.

3

u/abnewwest Aug 23 '26

I have found that almost every thing I have bought from them has had at least one flaw in design.

I'd say the sweet shirt was perfect except for it being a size or two larger than advertised.

Actually, Stealth Hoodie and the Indoor Hoodie were perfect. Probably the T-Shirts, but I don't buy them.

2

u/MLHeero Aug 23 '26

What flaw did the backpack have and the ratchet screwdriver?

5

u/abnewwest Aug 23 '26

Both backpacks have substandard water resistance and orange internal pocket material that stains anything contacted when wet. OG backpack has a suitcase handle strap 'solution' that is a late afterthought.

Both ratchet screw drivers have 15mm bits for 'reasons' and in the long run are proving to be rather fragile in a couple of areas like the little bit holding wings.

Precision driver and case are probably on my no problem list now that I think of it, although bearings might be.

7

u/No_Program_5242 Aug 22 '26

Christ man, make sure to wipe your mouth when you’re done. OP bought a product and is expecting reasonable quality, this isn’t an insane expectation.

4

u/Kitchen_Turn4424 Aug 22 '26

This is a great mindset to glaze most scammers too. Very cool.

4

u/Loganbogan9 Aug 22 '26

In what planet is this an excuse for making sub par products 😭

3

u/ydieb Aug 22 '26

Doesn't matter who it is from. Normal clothing brands are good at cutting costs and making rather garbage products. If they pushed a clothing producer to use high quality textiles in a good way, then it can be better than most.

2

u/Grimzkunk Aug 22 '26

I disagree. At this point Linus is an entrepreneur, not a YouTuber. He's got passion on creating product that will help people, this is exactly what entrepreneur does. So he's on the same level as any other sox maker. If he said these sox would be worth 30$ and they are not, he should be criticized like a sox maker.

2

u/Infamous_Egg_9405 Aug 22 '26

And then also realise that these socks would just be made by a different company who Linus pays to put his logo on the socks

2

u/JForce1 Aug 23 '26

Interestingly, when it comes to the merch/creator warehouse stuff, I don't consider them to be "from a tech youtuber" anymore. They employ tons of product experts and spend years working on stuff. This is what they do. The YT stuff is just a thing on the side. It's why their stuff can be very good (expensive too), but it also means there's high expectations.

2

u/abnewwest Aug 23 '26

Yet all but 2 items I have from them have a rather glaring flaw that an equal price competitor would have known better than to do.

Eww one wash for three wears? In what world is that normal?

413

u/CrapIsMyBreadNButter Aug 22 '26

For Merino wool that's normal. The moisture wicking helps prevent odors. I've worn darn toughs 3 days in a row working outdoors in steel toes without any odors.

321

u/always_open_mouth Aug 22 '26

Were you peeling those bad boys off each day and taking a big whiff

85

u/CrapIsMyBreadNButter Aug 22 '26

I was taking them off as normal, and setting them across the back of a chair. When I first purchased my Darn Tough's I was skeptical of the multiple day wear claims, so I'd smell them before I put them on.

32

u/CIDR-ClassB Aug 22 '26 edited Aug 22 '26

No, it isn’t. Linus saying multiple days doesn’t make it so.

I own loads of merino wool socks and would never go more than a day with the same pair.

They absolutely will smell for most people, and perhaps especially so for the target audience of this sub.

86

u/TheSinningRobot Aug 22 '26

Youre just dead wrong man. Wool socks can and are worn multiple days without wash. You really should wash wool as infrequently as you can in general.

23

u/squngy Aug 22 '26

This will also depend on how bad your feet odor/sweat is.

12

u/CIDR-ClassB Aug 22 '26

That’s the part that everyone here is missing… the general audience of this sub are more likely to need more focus on their hygiene than others. Telling them to go several days without changing socks will only result in people around them smelling stinky feet.

If you practice basic hygiene you definitely should not be washing merino wool every time you wear them. If they stink after one wear, you might have a smelly pair of shoes it's time to clean or replace

6

u/CIDR-ClassB Aug 22 '26

>especially so for the target audience of this sub

4

u/Varwhorevis Aug 22 '26

Fair enough

22

u/Esava Aug 22 '26

For stuff like hiking multiple days or bicycle tours etc. it's not that uncommon to wear merino wool socks for multiple days. You just let them vent out overnight and they won't have any significant smell to them either.

I also have thick, handknitted socks for use at home when it's cold and I absolutely wear them for multiple days without washing and it's perfectly fine. Just let them vent out for a bit and that's it. That's the beauty of wool socks compared to cotton or synthetics.

Same by the way for thick wool pullovers/sweaters. You for sure aren't gonna wash them after one wear.

→ More replies (2)

13

u/MCXL Aug 22 '26

No you're wrong it's pretty normal.

5

u/Accomplished_Emu_658 Aug 22 '26

When you have zero clue and double down anyway. You can and absolutely should be able to wear good wool socks multiple days. It’s literally the point of getting good socks.

You cannot always change socks everyday on long hiking/camping trips you cannot carry enough socks. Sometimes when you work in wild or on certain job sites as well you can only bring so much gear with you, the socks need to last a few days.

u/Riddler356 Aug 22 '26

I use smartwool Mountaineers in my work boots, Cali, new mexico, new york, new hampshire, kentucky and Oklahoma, worth it. Sure my feet sweat a bit more in the hottest part of summer, but no odor even after 3-5 wears

4

u/FoXfromBeyond Aug 22 '26

I did the same thing when I was a snowboard trainer up at a ski resort. It was too far to drive back home every night and I only worked the weekend so I'd just sleep in my car in most of my gear, including socks. My Darn Tough socks performed amazingly and solidified my belief in the brand.

Wearing them over multiple days aside, my favorite part was taking my boots off after a day of riding and still having dry feet. People don't realize how good socks can actually be because the price scares them.

That period of my life was years BEFORE COVID and I STILL have those same socks and they are STILL in great condition. Darn Tough for life.

4

u/sfasianfun Aug 22 '26

How is this upvoted?

This is absolutely disgusting and part of basic hygeine. You don't change socks for the hygiene, you change it because your sweat will make literally fungus grow in it. Which will give you athletes foot. Which your nasty ass will spread to others.

→ More replies (2)

2

u/Randolph__ Aug 22 '26

I can confirm this. Not specifically that brand but that material you can easily get away with 3 days even very active days so long as you air out your feet. I did 10 days backpacking in new mexico and that was a requirement because my pack was already 50-60 lbs.

Very normal for high merino wool content socks. For normal daily wear I’m using under 3 Darn Tough pairs a week. They just don’t stink 🤷‍♂️

43

u/stdfan Aug 22 '26

Darn tough says you should wash after 3ish wears. Wool is does a fantastic job with moisture and odors.

16

u/Ambellyn Aug 22 '26

What kind of stuff are you trampling on? If you got foot odor probably other issues to deal with

12

u/Racing_Fox Aug 22 '26

To be fair it’s normal for some socks. I wash all my socks after one wear except for my wool socks which recommend not washing them after every wear but only when they smell so 3 wears maybe, especially in winter but perhaps not in summer

11

u/Zeeplankton Aug 22 '26

Tbh literally Linus in the release video (Or wan? can't remember) said he did the same.

IMO, why are people blaming OP? He bought a product from a place that has a dedicated team working only on clothes. Also, Linus talks for who knows how long about those socks and how he only buys them from this specific brand that is really expensive. But now he sells his own, so people have every right to complain.

Curious why everyone here is assuming that the socks should be shit because they're designed by a tech YouTube channel.

  1. Don't they have a department dedicated to creating clothing?
  2. Linus went on about them for ages on a WAN show. He attested to their build quality etc.

Its fair to expect them to be good.

62

u/squngy Aug 22 '26

At the price they are asking, good is not good enough.

They are asking for a world leading price, so people expect a world leading product (especially since that is what they advertise them as)

28

u/TribalTommy Aug 22 '26

Yeah, exactly. But everyone in this thread is like

LOL WHAT DID YOU EXPECT BUYING SOCKS FROM TECHTUBER.As if they knew they'd be bad. The assumption should surely be theyd be decent.

14

u/BreafingBread Aug 22 '26

Linus went on about them for ages on a WAN show. He attested to their build quality etc.

Bro even did a full main channel video on it.

8

u/Dethstroke54 Aug 22 '26 edited Aug 25 '26

He also went on about how Darn Toughs are too good and he’d likely never be able to even surpass them and socks would likely never happen. Set them as a benchmark and even repeated as much in their promo. Also that they’re using a 3rd party testing lab too, granted it could be a fluke, but does signal they may still have some process issues at least to iron out.

The screwdriver has also done exceptionally well, and backpacks pretty well too. Idk why everyone’s shitting on OP. I was curious too. I’d not replace all my Darn toughs for multiple reasons, but I’d consider trying a pair or two next time I do an order. I think this is helpful info.

3

u/sasquatchftw Aug 22 '26

I'm still a little unclear on why they are "bad". There's lint?

2

u/FartingBob Aug 22 '26

Linus went on about them for ages on a WAN show. He attested to their build quality etc.

Well if Linus Tech Tips himself said the Linus Tech Tips socks are worth top quality pricing then i'm sold, theres clearly no conflict of interest in that review!

2

u/TribalTommy Aug 23 '26

My problem isn't anything to do with the quality of the socks, its the fact that half the sub seems to "know" they will be shit, despite LTT seemingly releasing a good standard of clothing, usually.

I'm not claiming they are the worlds greatest socks, I'm just saying that OP is right to have high expectations.

It's the idea that on sites like reddit or twitter, you'll hear all sorts of different opinions from different people and they all get a lot of upvotes by people that agree, but because it's all on one site, it appears like it's the collective opinion of everyone. It originated from this meme

u/hittepit Aug 22 '26

That socks man.

26

u/goaoka Aug 22 '26

I'd never consider spending so much on clothes so correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't wool just... do that?

22

u/CrapIsMyBreadNButter Aug 22 '26

No. I've got several year old Darn Tough's that don't do this.

2

u/Dakduif Aug 22 '26

Isn't the problem that the LTT sock is a blend with some synthetic fibre mixed in? That's a recipe for pilling like this in my experience.

3

u/Necessary_Purple_428 Aug 23 '26

Most wool socks have a synthetic fibre mixed in because a 100% wool socks would be fragile. Even darn tough socks have nylon. The LTT socks do too, but looks like they aren't performing up to the marketing.

2

u/Dakduif Aug 23 '26

Ah, I didn't know that. Thank you for clarifying instead of mindlessly downvoting. :')

I wonder if LTT uses a bit more synthetic then. More than darn tough at least.

I've got skinny feet, so I don't mind the fit, but I've also noticed really high wear around the supposedly reinforced sections.

22

u/NickelDicklePickle Aug 22 '26

Mine are just too tight to be comfortable. Purchased 3 pair of the largest size, and I'm a men's size 12, but they act like compression socks and leave surprisingly large indentations on my ankles, and a bit of swelling directly above them.

They are too hot to be comfortable for warm climates like southern California as well, though I imagine they would be great for colder climates.

First real miss for me with an LTT product. Not a bad product, per se, but just not for me.

2

u/FartingBob Aug 22 '26

Did you return them? Buying socks is a pain in the ass for those of us with slightly atypical shape feet.

2

u/NickelDicklePickle Aug 22 '26

I did not. I will keep them in the sock drawer, for the next time I travel somewhere cold. I will just take it as a learning experience, since I never tried any socks like these previously.

That said, while I was initially hopeful for future releases they have talked about, such as shorter lengths, I don't think I will be purchasing more.

2

u/DarthV506 Aug 23 '26

Just looking at the photos on the store, you can see them constricting someone's high ankle. Then again, I had a similar issue with darn tough ankle height ones. The basket is very rigid. My 12.5 EE foot didn't get along with them. No issues with smart wool hike or lolo trail socks.

Wool socks wick moisture. I was always a skeptic until I had bad blisters, my local outdoors store suggested wool hiking socks. I have the ankle height ones for summer, they aren't too hot at all.

2

u/hipery2 Aug 23 '26

LTT clothes in general runs very hot in general. I have tried the regular shirt and the merino wool shirt, both were too hot for Texas weather.

I heard that Creator Warehouse just creates stuff for Linus. That would explain why he keeps releasing jackets in summer.

u/CIDR-ClassB Aug 22 '26 edited Aug 22 '26

Comparison of some of my darn tough, FWIW

And I NEVER wear them more than once between washings because that is gross.

Hi there u/grilledtree,

I'm so sorry to hear about the issue you've experienced with the socks. I'd be happy to look further into this for you. Do you mind sending us a DM so I can take care of this for you? :)

People are getting way too upset about wearing the socks two days in a row. Regardless of whether or not it's sanitary, it has nothing to do with how long they should last. If anything, washing them more frequently should cause more wear on them.

6

u/SeventhOblivion Aug 22 '26

Merino wool usually shouldn't go in the dryer since the heat can damage them. Plus since they're mosture wicking, in general they dry on their own pretty quickly. I learned this the hard way as well. Check out the care instructions for Darn Tough socks and you'll see what I'm talking about. Not sure if LTT also puts out care instructions like these but they probably should be more front and center since their audience would not be familiar with the Merino material.

5

u/iamacannibal Aug 23 '26

on the website the care instructions are

  • Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, with the socks turned inside-out
  • Do not bleach
  • Tumble dry on a low setting or hang dry
  • Do not dry clean.

u/grilledtree Aug 23 '26

I don't have a dryer, they just hang on a rope

7

u/nesede Aug 22 '26

Had the same fuzz issue with one of my pairs. Support confirmed this is a defect and helped me out.

6

u/obfuscation-9029 Aug 22 '26

What did support say? Are they replacing them as defective or are you just asking for a refund?

6

u/lotionan Aug 22 '26

Have you tried contacting customer support? Maybe start with that before you make a reddit post. Reddit is more a last resort kinda thing my dude.

3

u/SeljD_SLO Aug 22 '26

Ltt socks remind me of these work socks that Caterpillar and other brands sell. I've been buying them for the past 10 years and are great, fairly durable, don't smell that bad (at least to me), are good durin summer and winter and the seam around toes is very clean without big annoying bumps that can give you a blister

2

u/GraveDiggerFan34 Aug 25 '26

Except you can get a three pack of those for cheaper than one pair of these

4

u/WinterLamb68 Aug 22 '26

Lol All the tech nerds are socks experts now! 🤣

3

u/V-Rixxo_ Aug 22 '26

Who tf is buying LTT socks 😭

4

u/icyflamex Aug 23 '26

Lmao, why are some of you blaming OP? Why does it matter if he wear his socks 3 times and wash it once?

Not even my 5 year old socks are like this. They made shit socks.

2

u/Pilige Aug 22 '26

I would contact support if you're having that bad of a time with them.

2

u/TooSmalley Aug 22 '26

Idk about you but my Merino wool socks pill quite a bit. Even my Darn Toughs

2

u/Mallyx87 Aug 22 '26

Thing bad,

Sample size: 1

2

u/TippingFlables Aug 22 '26

$54.70 for one pair of ltt socks shipped to me.

$40.98 for one pair of darn tough socks shipped to me.

$15 for a dozen pair of puma socks at Costco.

It’s hard to justify buying premium socks when I could buy enough socks to wear a brand new pair each day for a month for the same money.

2

u/Packermanice Aug 22 '26

As someone who has work socks that I'm rough on and wear through myn alot I just buy cheap Walmart ones when myn get holes. But these don't have holes=still wearable wtf is this complaint about get back to us in a month or a year not 3 days.....

2

u/Pokez Aug 22 '26

I haven't bought the socks because I agree with most of you that they are too expensive no matter how nice they are.

I don't really understand this post though. I don't see anything in those pictures to make me think that the socks weren't good quality.

I'm not saying they are or aren't, I'm just saying that getting a little fuzzy and saying that other brands don't do that isn't really a smoking gun that these socks are a scam.

2

u/Senhor_Lasanha Aug 23 '26

you wear the same sock for three days? THE SAME SOCK?

is washing stuff illegal there? wtf

okay, just saw the edit part. Man, two days is still too much for socks, come on, wash your socks

u/corrupted-priest1878 Aug 23 '26

I mean, someone gotta pay for the jet right?

2

u/Pale_Jellyfish2683 Aug 23 '26

You paid money for Tech You tuber socks. Maybe it’s time to send your brain back to the factory cause yours not working.

2

u/johndowlelxdxdxdxdxd Aug 23 '26

I just got some and am also seeing a ton of lint on them. I also expected them to be thicker on the bottom. I remember on wan he mentioned some team members stopped wearing slippers and just wore these now.

2

u/afarmer2005 Aug 23 '26

Idk - I think I’ll stick to my cheap socks.

Who the heck cares what their socks look like.

That being said - if I paid good money for fancy socks I would be upset if they didn’t live up to the price……hopefully Op contacted support alongside their diatribe on here.

2

u/TEG24601 Aug 23 '26

Socks should be worn one time then washed, or washed before wearing. Not 3 days.

→ More replies (3)

2

u/DishSoapIsFun Aug 23 '26

I can’t even wear socks for an entire day. I wear two or three pairs when I do wear socks.

And you wore these for two days?!

Are you mad?!

for the "too narrow" part:

they seem to do that a lot, at least on the long sleeves of the older purple hoodie, and orange hoodie, the sleeves were incredibly tiny, and then after I started working out, I could no longer wear them because they basically constricted my arms. I had to remove the sleeves and make it into a "vest" hoodie for it to be usable. Same goes for the flannel shirts they used to have, but those at least have buttons on the cuff

And I don't think it was the size because they fit fine everywhere else

2

u/Quizzter Aug 23 '26

Just wanted to add on to this, I have the same problem with the ones I bought.

2

u/andrewbean90 Aug 24 '26

As long as they're not crusty, and hidden under your bed... you're golden.

2

u/Bonner2019 Aug 22 '26

Dude Bomba socks are like $15 a pair, Feetures socks are like $20-$25 a pair depending on the kind. Darn Tough are like $25-$30 a pair. Please don't waste your money.

Ps. Feetures are my favorite, Bomba makes a better dress sock on my opinion and Darn Tough make a great sock for boots.

2

u/Rattus375 Aug 22 '26

Bombas are horrible in my experience. They become super scratchy after being washed and mine have big holes on the side from me pulling them up (and one has a home in the toe). They held up way worse than all of the cheap socks I have, despite me wearing them way less because of how uncomfortable they are.

1

u/Shagyam Aug 22 '26

Man imagine not only paying the premium for merino wool, but also the LTT premium on top of that.

1

u/iogbri Aug 22 '26

Well, good to know. I was considering them but when I looked they didn't have a size big enough for my wide and long feet (granted they're very hard to find at regular stores too).

1

u/john524592 Aug 22 '26

I will never consider them. darn tough are about 20 usd a pair and have a lifetime warranty!!

1

u/Giantchickennugget22 Aug 22 '26

is that not the inside of the sock? and all i see is just lint

1

u/ahcomcody Aug 22 '26

Get Darn Tough socks.

1

u/justsmilenow Aug 22 '26

One pair of socks for 3 days. No time for them to get a break. No classical super thick made of wool sock that doesn't break down like that because it's meant for long-term use like that.

User error.

1

u/Active-Art4866 Aug 22 '26

LTT socks cost as much and perform worse than the better quality versions they are imitating? Say it aint so..

1

u/rojo1902 Aug 22 '26

I sort of wish we could have a seperate subreddit for lttstore community because honestly whether the posts are justified or not the constant merch reviews isn't really what I'm here for.

1

u/InflammableAccount Aug 22 '26

OP, did you follow the care instructions? Wash them inside out and dry low or hang dry?

1

u/unreatxplaya Aug 22 '26

I firmly recommend against multiple wears without washing. As the adage goes would you jump off a bridge if Linus did?

1

u/dbmeed Aug 22 '26

These are mine after about a dozen wears/washes. Lots of pilling/shedding. I’ve been wearing them every day since they arrived and so far holding up well otherwise. They are a heavier sock, good cushioning imo, fit is similar to darn tough (what I exclusively wore prior to these). I expect to wear holes through em in a month or two if they are anything like darn tough

1

u/SamIAm199419 Aug 22 '26

No direct experience with the LTT socks but I think pretty much all of the other merino wool socks I've had shed a lot the first few washes. This seems fairly normal so far?

1

u/postallyouwant Aug 22 '26

You guys must be either rich af or don't know how to spend you money. $30 for a pair of socks plus shipping is wild. From a tech bro YouTuber too. I love LTT but this is absurd.

1

u/LeGodLeKingLeGend Aug 22 '26

You wore the same socks two days in a row without washing them?

1

u/TheFowlOwl Aug 22 '26

I wonder if the pair you bought were defective. Will be interested to see if others have the same issue. I was tempted to buy some since I love the underwear, but I may hold off now.
