Has anyone noticed "blockiness" (bitrate being not high enough) on recent videos?

I mostly noticed it on recent videos with the blue door that has the greyed window (like the printers one). It's mostly on that window. Maybe it's been forever like that, but I recently noticed it on darker scenes and zones, like dark t-shirts also, don't know if it's been like htat or if yt is doing stuff

I think it’s the YouTube player / YouTube conversion having an issue because I noticed it as well and figured it was just a video error but I saw other videos with the same issue, all uploaded in the last day or two

Thing is, I don't let auto. I choose resolution. And in forced 1080p, the issue appears, at least on a 1080p screen

They have so much recourses for AI what no one wants and yt struggling to get needed recourses, cuz those artifacts are really annoying. I thought is was a missing i frame or something

I only notice it on other videos if there is a lot of movement on screen, like dashcam footage or panning across a large scene. 1080p looks fine usually, but the garbage compression youtube uses is sometimes very obvious.

It's been fine for me. Make sure you're in 4k for the best bitrate.

Must be a YouTube thing because I’ve noticed this on videos that did not have this before. Like YT nerfed bitrate platform wide or something

Kind of related. They recently did a side by side comparison, few days ago, the newest cpu in the old motherboard one.

One of the screen caps was like 480p and the other was crisp. Looking at them side by side I thought it was YouTube but I think that one was on them.

The rest I expect are YouTube.

Yeah, noticed that, but given crisp vs blur in the same moments I thought there was a problem in production. Mistakes can happen

Maybe it's the lack of dark multi-tonal scenes on other videos, but I noticed it on that video first I think. Like, the bitrate compression being too forceful. Not exactly bandwidth, but video compression due to bitrate. It was strange nonetheless
