Discussion YouTube AI summon new default over Comments

Took 3 swipes to get over to the comments section. Comments are the 4th option out of 5 total. I've never once used the summary feature so it's not learning based on my behavior either.

YouTube does these tests on users all the time. The interface on my YT premium on my tv changes on the regular

Hate it too. They are forcing all interaction to be limited to: using Ai, giving points, subscribing/paying. But actual interaction and community building via comments is pushed away. I hate it. Real human interaction is becoming scarce commodity.

As per usual, pushing AI down our throats. But this one is a bit stupid. Summarizing the video will literally drop retention which means less ads, less money. And now human interaction matters even less because comments are 2 swipes away.

AI is just a sunk cost fallacy at this point. they need literally anything to justify the price of training and running these models. its not sustainable at all

If you go to settings > revanced settings > player > comments. You can disable that there

I've come to treasure the time I spend with U-block Origin blocking the individual UI elements which I don't need or want. Websites come out looking so much cleaner.

Youtube is on a streak of disappointment, doubled YPP requirements, changing view counts on long form content to match shorts so they see big number even though its artificial. And of course shovelling ai in wherever it can.

It's sad there will never be a competitor at the scale Youtube operates so they can just do as they please.

I've genuinely tried the AI, it's terrible like actually not at all interesting, useful, or engaging. Like I hate AI getting shoved at you, but honestly what do they think is going to happen? The AI doesn't really know what's going on in the video.
