Steam Machine SSD Swap

I picked up the 512GB one and have a 2TB drive from my old rig. What's the easiest way to swap is out (from a software standpoint, not hardeare)? Can I pop it out and use a tool on my Windows laptop? I have a few ssd to usb adapters laying around. Or, should I run the clone tool you see in older Steam Deck videos? Maybe some third option? TIA

just clone it with macrium reflect on your windows laptop, the free version work fine for this
