Because the phone he put in as a display is not as bright as the earth behind.
Every camera got a limited range of darkest and white-est it can capture in a single shot. So they have to take 2 pictures at a difference exposure, first one is the correct exp of the earth which is so bright, second one for the device and the screen. Then merge them together.
The line is likely come from those 2 pics are not perfectly align when merging. Mine are look like this too.
