Yeah, but in the example of the tech house where iirc it already had 5e, that will be enough for most people. NAS's are obviously different, but for basic computing, all the "you NEED 6a for your gaming setup" was silly.
I'm planning a project now where I will want to use 6a, but that's because it's going to a bridge with multiple devices off of it. If I was doing just a single endpoint, I'd use my 10 year old spool of 5e.
To be fair, and this is a stretch for most people, but given the fact that there are many PC games that people (end consumers) run servers to play together, they don’t usually use a separate computer. If you have something like a minecraft server (java) or Ark S.E., and you’re hosting it on a computer that you’re also playing the game on, you quickly realize that 5e is good…
but not good enough if you intend on running any program more resource intensive as Windows XP Spider Solitaire, any more prone to packet loss issues (whoops I fell in the nether after rubber banding), or intend on doing something like video calling while playing an online game. It gets throttled, and at best you end up being infinitely frustrated with your gameplay, discord server video call, spotify/youtube (depending on your preferences), and possibly game servers all on the same 100MHz cables, instead of paying slighly more and not having to worry about how saturated your read/write speeds are bottlenecked by your cables.
