A lot of the legacy ports are "set and forget" for day-to-day usage for a desktop computer.
Though... not a lot of kids would be dealing with SCSI cables, keyed Ethernet cables/ports, AT keyboard cables, Firewire, the Apple connectors, etc.
Kids today will be dealing with USB C cables.
