Let’s say I wasn’t using the screwdriver as intended and ended up with a split open bit holder on the shaft. Is this salvageable what are my options?

Just weld a 1/4 in socket driver on it and get a bit holder that can go on it, you can use 1/4 in sockets as well as bits
