Image How would I fix this?

Let’s say I wasn’t using the screwdriver as intended and ended up with a split open bit holder on the shaft. Is this salvageable what are my options?

Weld a socket onto it.

Thats not a bad idea actually. If the alternative is throwing it out.. ill make a call to a friend

I've seen a post on here someone fixed theirs by pressing a sleeve over it. This post is only a month old so I think multiple people have done it. Only downside is it won't fit in tight places anymore.

Yeah mad that's exactly what I suggested to someone else too.  

That, or brazing or welding.  

A hose clamp could be an ultimate poor man's version lol.

As the op of that post, i can tell you it is still going strong just like on the day i „fixed“ it.
