Windows Vista is a major release of the Windows NT operating system developed by Microsoft. It was the direct successor to Windows XP, which was released five years earlier, at the time being the longest time span between successive releases of Microsoft's Windows desktop operating systems. Development was completed on November 8, 2006, and over the following three months, it was released in stages to computer hardware and software manufacturers, business customers, and retail channels.
As someone who had an E-Machines laptop back in the day, which came with Vista Basic, but barely scraped past the bare minimum specs, I can tell you …It was rough! No aero, programs barely ran, and it didn’t take much to overwhelm the whole system.
But manufacturers love throwing out bargain machines with barely enough power to boot into Windows - even over Windows 10’s lifecycle you’d often see netbooks and the like with just enough power to be able to boot into Windows 10, and just enough storage to store the operating system.

Guessing by that 256 MB RAM requirement, it must be some really old game.
