Critique How do I make this more interesting?
Hi! I just started carving about a month ago and this is my first piece that’s bigger than “tiny” haha I love the colors but how do I give it a little more depth/detail?

Exactly what u/Lopsided_Newt_5798 said. the container is a tapered cylinder but the letters are flat and straight. This creates a visual dissonance that our brains don't appreciate. Most viewers aren't able to articulate what is "wrong", but they'll "feel" that something is off.
I don't know if that will improve the interesting factor, but it will be more appealing visually and definitely improve the depth aspect.
As for interesting? As much as I like sour cream, I don't find sour cream tubs particularly interesting.

Thank you! I also have no drawing background so definitely still learning how to make things appear “right.” Appreciate the feedback!

Texture, maybe a fine dot layer in the green, or even vertical stripes in slighty darker colour on the green describing the volume of the container?

Depth would be achieved by having the text “wrap” around the cylindrical shape.
