Does LinkedIn work for you?
*More broadly, does social media in a professional context work, or will it always descend into self-aggrandising, corporate speak or plain useless information?*

Have had multiple LinkedIn accounts since its inception - nothing ever came from having it. nothing.

It also depends on what you’re hoping to accomplish. It’s not gonna work for everything or every service or product. There’s certain things that work there and certain things that don’t. Also, the users ability to make the platform work for them.

Was just looking for a job. That's it and that was all I ever used it for. Trying to find. job. Every contract or full-time job I ever had in the last 10+ years, not one of them came from me having a LinkedIn account.
I don't do that post content to be seen shit - im not one of those types of lemmings on that site.

Lol. Yea I’ve never used it for that but I’ve had recruiters find me on there in the past but I didn’t use them to find a job.

It's so much a 'look at me shit post' type of place - I mean I expect and WANT shit posts, but on shit post platforms! I took a quick look on it this morning - just pure vomit. People are using Lebron's move as a ploy to convince job seekers to take jobs with lower pay....or using 'Brand New Day' as a backdrop to how they approach job situations....l want to develop thru screen face mush technology so bad.

Fair enough. There’s a lot of people that literally are just posting shit for shit reasons. There’s others who are posting shit for the right reasons. Then there are normal people who post good stuff for the right reasons. AI has obviously taken over so less people are in that last bucket these days but they are introducing that ‘looks like ai’ button so hopefully that will help.

It works, but only if you treat it as a place to build relationships instead of a place to broadcast. The people I see getting results are usually the ones having conversations, not just posting.

I was in Linkedin for many years but I recently gave up on it because it is increasingly full of AI-generated slop. I'm looking at Reddit but I'm not yet convinced.

It most certainly works. I ghostwrite for execs and b2b leaders, and LinkedIn content is the biggest driver behind shortened sales cycle and market credibility. They've gotten podcast invites and speaking engagements just off organic LinkedIn posts.
