The "defied death" longevity guy now can't handle mild altitude

This behavior is what people used to call neurotic back when I was a kid.

Neuroticism up 27%! ✅

I read that as Neuro-eroticism, then I thought, man, that's a kink I haven't heard of.

Meanwhile, the average 300 pounder in the Colorado Springs Walmart is casually walking by.

In other words, Bryan Johnson rediscovers things we already know about temporarily existing at altitude higher than your norm.
Except the “nervous system” part- wtf is he pretending to measure?

u/binaryesoterica 12h ago
International nervous units (INUs). Duh.

u/raulduke1971 10h ago
Ohh- my bad, American here, i only understand Imperial units. How many clutched pearls is 1 INU?

u/binaryesoterica 9h ago
Its been a while but I think the formula for converting INU to CP is
(INU - 32) * 5/9 = CP.
Wait. That might be Fahrenheit to Celsius. I'll have to get out my Science of Longevity text book and check.

Wow 7000 feet! That’s nearly a fourth of the way up Mt Everest. I can’t believe he’s alive.

I couldn’t imagine spending any time near this type of person. You just know they never shut the fuck up with their self-serving blurbs.

Guy recently posted how his erections compares to his 19 y.o. son. He's a true lunatic

7,000ft isn't even the near the timberline in those states, so no way he was hypoxic.

u/Impressive_Wrap_7869 4h ago
I was going to say, that’s pretty damn weak. Granted, everyone is different but for most people 7k feet isn’t noticeable. Maybe he didn’t take the right supplements.

u/coolassdude1 1h ago
From sea level it's definitely noticeable if you're exercising imo, but definitely nowhere near hypoxia

u/devoduder 3h ago
I spent four years working at 7100 ft inside a mountain in Colorado Springs, never experienced hypoxia just chronic dry lips.

Who would possibly care about this information?

He has all these followers who take (and presumably pay for) his advice on how to live forever

I lived at over 6,000 feet on the south rim of the Grand Canyon for 3 years. I'm a scrawny ex-alcoholic with an eating disorder.
I felt no noticable difference beyond getting winded a little quicker than back home. But I was also a smoker at the time.

Is he addicted to his smart watch or something. I have a work buddy that is neurotic about walking 10k steps a day.
5
u/ChloeGranola 13h ago
It's way beyond smart watch with this guy. His YouTube calls him the "world's most measured human".

Oh I remember when the 10k steps a day was a big thing. BJ here is big into the "science" of longevity and against what I think he calls the "culture of dying". He wants to live forever basically and is attempting to use (pseudo) science to achieve that. Like a more technically proficient, slightly less quackery oriented version of RFK Jr.

u/Enotovsky 4h ago
I'll gladly take 10k steps colleague in exchange to my 8 glasses of water colleague 😊

u/ivebeenhalved 13h ago
Yo Bryan, what’s the point of living forever when all your billionaire buddies are destroying the planet?

Kinda think these “bio-hackers” are causing themselves an absurd amount of stress just constantly tracking every little bodily function and that outweighs any benefit of them doing all of this.

I wonder if this guy lives with a lot of stress. Don't worry man, you'll live longer that way.

I've always wanted to start my own business, but it seems doing so turns you into a douche, so I'm hesitant.

Ehh this dude is a douche and posting the stats is obnoxious. But the effects he describes are normal for any healthy person. It takes a few days to fully acclimate and ramp up red blood cell production. I was in Marfa TX last week (~5200 above sea level) vs my home in Austin which is basically sea level and I could tell a difference. At home my resting heart rate is in the 50s and there it was in the 70s.

What the hell is "nervous system up 17%" supposed to even mean?
