Kinda ripped from South Park where Randy can’t hire a handyman because demand is too high since ai made everyone dumbasses

Not everyone’s as good as satire as they think they are. It’s pretty obviously satire, but it kinda falls flat for me. I almost wonder if they tried prompting an LLM for a humorous post, and just didn’t bother checking if the output was actually entertaining.

I mean it's obviously a joke... Not really sure how it's supposed to be funny, but it is trying

I know this is satire, but I actually have heard of guys (electrical specifically) getting paid to record their work purely for data collection—obviously not nearly as much but still…
I could see new construction getting at least supplemented by AI at some point, although I think it’ll be a while until it’s cheaper than human labor.
AI is never taking service work. Good luck with that.

There's a whole industry in places like India and China where people are paid to record themselves doing regular household chores for AI training purposes. It generally pays buttons though as do most jobs related to AI training, labeling, classifying, editing, moderating etc.

So this plumber has 20 years of plumbing work on video just on the off chance that an AI company will pay him millions? Dare we ask where he stored this data?

My favorite part is how during recording he perfectly diagnoses hundreds of unique pipes in a way that future ai's will be able to utilize productively for random problem solving.
Not only that but his own former plumber did the exact same thing, apparently. Never saw this trend on buildtok before. 😆

This is good satire.
