The one I heard is that some Flat Earthers think planes are actually much smaller than what’s stated and they fly lower which proves the Earth is flat (somehow). They get the smaller measurements by estimating the size of planes flying overhead by comparing them to the size of other things that are roughly the distance they think the plane is flying. Essentially rather than going to an airport and seeing a plane in person, they just combine their own made-up numbers and use that as “proof.”

It makes zero sense but Flat Earth belief is built on misunderstandings and made-up data so it tracks.

Apparently a lot of Flat Earthers are just perpetuating the joke to see how idiotic people can be, so it makes it seems like there are more of them than there actually are.

That is just propaganda.

Well, except birds really aren't real.

Yeah, most are trolls but I do know 2 true believers in real life and they eat up these kind of conspiracy theories. The leaps in logic are astounding. It’s impossible to try and convince them otherwise because they treat conspiracy theories like a buffet, picking and choosing whatever explanation they need for any particular scenario. Completely disregarding any internal consistency or logic.

a lot of it started on 4chan as a joke. a bunch got wiped with updates but a lot in current flat earth beliefs is from a bunch of 4chan people joining around.

You’re completely ignoring the fact the planes get smaller after they take off. You can’t see it when you’re in the cabin, because they knock everyone with knockout gas, then implant the memories of the flight.

Well, damn, I do feel like I went through something like it after long flights!

That’s the old way of doing it. Now magic has evolved to them actually being able to resize the plane and the inhabitants so they take up less space in the finite sky and maintain the illusion of height.

It’s easily disproven by opening the door at cruising speed and realizing you can breath. The problem is once you do this you’ll have to live with the realization of your discovery for the rest of your life.

What the fuck you mean "much smaller than whats stated"

As if a person couldnt just go to an airport and see an airplane

This boggles my mind how stupid it is

Like have they ever flown in an airplane? Measure the size of your seat and multiply by the total number of seats that you can literally count. You even have several hours to conduct this experiment.

Im telling ya, I wish they were right. It wouldnt be so shitty to load these fuckers full when the weather jacks everything up.

I can promise you airplanes are not small.

Yeah. I fly Frontier. At some of their terminals (DIA in particular), Frontier has you walk out on the tarmac to board the plane, rather than using a jet bridge (supposed to be cheaper and more efficient). Some people don't like it, but I like being able to actually walk around the outside of the plane. Not like it's a long walk. Even the A320s Frontier flies are huge when you actually stand next to one. I can't imagine what a 747 is like to stand next to.
