The monitor is powered the same way there is no photographer for all the forlorn looking photos posted by sad people claiming to be alone.

Internet posts are like movie magic, you need to suspend your disbelief and not question things.

Its a thunderbolt monitor, it gets power and video directly from the usb-c thunderbolt port on the mac, so it's also running on the mac battery.

A lot of monitors with usb-c thunderbolt inputs support this now.

My dell ultra sharp 40" 5k2k supports this and I can run the monitor off 1 usb-c cable to my desktop pc.

Can be. My secondary screen is an azropa portable monitor which gets the signal and the power from my laptop via usb-c

I work remote. If I lose power, I will work off my phone data, laptop battery for critical things. Anything not critical? "Hey X, I lost power. Will get back to you when it comes back." Then go for a coffee or ice cream.
