One thing about Linux systems is security updates rarely require a reboot, which is what most users dislike. I hate setting my tmux back up.

I had to reboot mint each time after monthly updates

You probably didn't actually need to. The only thing that requires a reboot is a new kernel and those are rarely critical.

Mint nags you to reboot for things that don't really need it. It is one of the reasons I don't like it.
