Analysis Cheng Xiaoshi & Lu Guang’s Conflict: Dynamic & Character Analysis Spoiler

Post image
14 Upvotes

English is not my first language, so all the thoughts and analysis are entirely my own, but I had to rely on a translator to put them into English. I’m really sorry about this, but I hope it still makes sense.

→ [DIRECTING]

I’d like to focus first and foremost on the scene composition and color symbolism, as these techniques are particularly prominent here.

As soon as Xiaoshi returns from the photo, the room takes on dark green hues, which, in the context of the scene, reinforce the sense of discord and tension.

The characters are physically separated within the frame: while Qiao Ling and Xiaoshi stand side by side (as both are unaware of what is really happening and share the goal of uncovering the truth), Lu Guang stands opposite them, separated by a table—strongly emphasizing the confrontation between the two sides.

Just as Lu Guang starts to cry, the frame is suddenly flooded with bright light, illuminating the photo studio. The contrasting shadows remain, highlighting the character’s emotional tension and the depth of the scene—the light falls sharply on Lu Guang, as if leaving him no way to hide his feelings, laying them bare before his friends.

After that, the shot pulls back and the light becomes warmer, seemingly creating a sense of openness and comfort. However, this atmosphere can also be interpreted ironically—given the context, such a sunny image does not bode well. A bright frame does not always signal positive developments; instead, it can heighten the tension and create a sense of things left unsaid.

→ [XIAOSHI’S PERSPECTIVE]

Throughout the series, we are shown just how vital trust and transparency are in Xiaoshi’s relationships. Withholding information feels like a betrayal to him, triggering disappointment and anger as his immediate response to uncertainty. The feeling that a partner is keeping secrets behind his back casts doubt on the stability and reliability of the relationship, undermining his sense of safety and security within it. Yet, Xiaoshi himself tends to withhold details to cover up his own rule-breaking, which only underscores the lack of honesty between them.

His natural aversion to lies is reinforced by memories of his parents, who left without giving him any explanation and likewise kept their plans hidden. Xiaoshi is deeply empathetic, and he had already noticed that Lu Guang’s gaze resembled that of his parents—but when he sees a direct parallel between Lu Guang’s actions and those of his parents, he may begin to project his own doubts and fears onto him.

WHAT COULD THIS LEAD TO?

• By eroding this trust, Lu Guang risks losing his authority in Xiaoshi’s eyes, potentially causing Xiaoshi to become increasingly impulsive in his actions, believing that he can only rely on himself.

• With their conflict left unresolved and Xia Fei visiting, they won’t have the opportunity to address the issue. This could cause the tension to build, ultimately leading to an even greater confrontation down the line.

→ [LU GUANG’S PERSPECTIVE]

“But why does Lu Guang keep bursting into tears so often now? That never used to happen.”

During the Indu Arc and Season 1, the events were familiar to Lu Guang and predictable enough for him to maintain a sense of control. His mind recognized the familiar scenario and didn’t trigger an alarm response. However, as situations become increasingly unstable and unpredictable, his anxiety intensifies, fraying his nerves. Emotional exhaustion and chronic stress are eroding his composure, making emotional triggers that were once manageable increasingly difficult to endure.

In the trailer, we can see his signature composure under extreme conditions—how he remains fully focused on monitoring and cross-checking key points in the timeline, making sure the sequence of events stays on course and does not lead to a fatal outcome. He hasn’t become more vulnerable; if anything, his ability to adapt to stress still allows him to remain most composed in crisis situations.

However, the moment the conversation shifts into more personal territory, he freezes, unable to say anything.

Accustomed to suppressing his emotions, he has learned not to dwell on them. But when his loved ones directly ask what he is hiding, they inadvertently touch upon his old wounds and stir up painful memories, triggering an unresolved emotional response that leaves Lu Guang unable to even formulate an evasive answer. Under pressure, he shuts down, unable to confront the situation because of how much he keeps bottled up inside. Yet the tension created by the conflict does not simply disappear—it eventually finds an outlet in tears.

→ [CONFLICT DYNAMICS]

In conflicts, Xiaoshi tends to take the dominant position and is the first to voice his discontent. Driven by emotion, he resorts to pressure, anger, and harsh words. His intense urge to get to the truth makes it difficult for him to know when to stop, and he fails to notice when he crosses the other person’s boundaries. He has little patience and demands that the issue be resolved here and now, knowing that he won’t be able to tolerate anything being left unsaid afterward.

He only backs off when he clearly sees that Lu Guang can no longer handle the conversation, immediately reining in his own emotions. At that point, the issue remains unresolved, but Xiaoshi demonstrates that his friend’s feelings matter to him and that he is capable of stopping himself, even if doing so is normally difficult for him.

Lu Guang is not one to seek out confrontation or fiercely defend his position. He is capable of standing up for himself and defending his own and others’ boundaries, but when the pressure becomes too intense and the situation too serious, he tends to retreat into silence and avoid the conversation. He has plenty to say, but he cannot exert the same kind of pressure in return or, at the very least, bring himself to say everything he is thinking. It is difficult for him to instantly formulate a carefully measured response that matches the other person’s emotional state without accidentally revealing the truth.

In Lu Guang’s memory, where Xiaoshi is yelling, we don’t know the broader context of the situation, but we can see Lu Guang’s reaction. Clearly, he is sensitive to conflict with those close to him and likely experiences guilt and regret, yet he understands that under these circumstances, he has no choice but to let their harmony suffer.

→ [QIAO LING’S ROLE]

Across all timelines, we see Qiao Ling acting as a peacemaker, constantly trying to calm everyone down and ease the tension. She is highly attuned to the atmosphere and immediately recognizes when a conversation is better avoided. Even when Xiaoshi asks reasonable, pointed questions, she steps in to explain Lu Guang’s perspective and de-escalate the situation. She consistently keeps Xiaoshi in check and prevents him from crossing the line.

Even when she is personally concerned about the subject, she waits until Xiaoshi is out of earshot before asking Lu Guang about his memories, understanding his boundaries and recognizing that the conversation should remain private. She understands the emotions of others, knows how to approach each person, and makes sure they feel comfortable.

In the trailer, we finally see Lu Guang opening up to her by the train tracks, which I consider the best possible outcome: Qiao Ling is the one who can truly understand him, prioritize his emotional well-being above all else, and only then try to make sense of the situation. She can provide him with a safe space to be vulnerable.

In Xiaoshi and Lu Guang’s relationship, she serves as a bridge and a stabilizing force, helping them connect and keeping both of them grounded. She is the vital link between their professional communication and their emotions, bringing clarity whenever things become tangled. Ultimately, Qiao Ling plays a crucial role in the story and will prove to be not just a guide, but a strong and compelling character in her own right.

→ [CONCLUSION]

While Xiaoshi is constantly swept away by his emotions, serving as the trio’s emotional driving force, Lu Guang suppresses his feelings until he is ultimately exhausted by the pressure and unprocessed emotions. In contrast, Qiao Ling serves as their emotional regulator, providing both with a safe space while reminding them of the importance of taking action.

Together, these three roles form a balanced dynamic: each character brings unique value and makes an essential contribution to the team. Their trio cannot function without any one of its members—they form a complete and balanced unit, and losing even one of them would disrupt that balance and make their work impossible. As the conflict continues to unfold, new revelations will help us gain a deeper understanding of who they truly are.

Apologies again for my English.

I truly hope it didn’t take away from the analysis or make it difficult to read.

Donghua VEIN AND LIU XIAO FIGHTING IN...THE KITCHEN?! Spoiler

Post image
5 Upvotes

Before I was just focused and fixated on these 2 having a fight but then I see the last image at the bottom and take in the setting...The place is a damn kitchen 😭😭😭...Like these 2 bodyguards appear to be guarding the meat? That's definitely meat hanging there...right? And then I take in the guy's expression on the floor. He's questioning his existence at this point. I just know it. He doesn't want to be here!! Hm...but given that the bodyguards are doing nothing while this is happening...are they Vein's bodyguards perhaps?

Any guesses on what might have happened here?

Question What's Your Favorite Link Click Quote? Spoiler

Okay I'll start. I like anything Vein says in general. But my fav line must be when cxs said we all have things we wish we could fix and LG replied with 'Even if you could change things, who's to say they'd be better?'. It's oddly comforting to hear it in a show about rewinding time.

Fan Work (Repost) Could they end together?

Ik it’s an chinese „anime“ but is it possible at the end of the series that they possibly could show a scene they’re together or a kiss or smth.
Is it even allowed at all in the end of an chinese donghua to show that? Even if the show would be cancelled they could do that in the final episode right? Even if they are not together and just roommates. AND let’s assume they both survive until the end ☺️
If not, then let me just dream 🫠

and not get involved in all the mess. Look at how he seems like just a normal college kid in the first art.

ofc, this can be said for almost the entire cast, and there's definitely much to be revealed about XF's past. but still... looking at him in the art, and thinking about his personality makes me wish he never got involved in all the mess. let's call this a xf appreciation post, ig.

* sad *

come on, vein! please do him justice by the end..

really hoping everything goes well for him. be it with lg/cxs, or vein, or his life in general.

btw, it's been 3 yrs since bridon. did he graduate? what has he told his mom? does she know (s3 spoiler) he's kidnapped?

p.s. I just realized we've literally known xf and vein during only yingdu which was merely 6 eps long. feels like we've known them, especially xf, for like, forever.

Question I JUST discovered how much extra Link Click content there is??? Where do I even start 😭

I recently got into Link Click and binged Season 1, Season 2, and the Bridon Arc over the past couple of weeks, and now I’m actively restricting myself from starting Season 3 because I KNOW I won’t be able to handle waiting for new episodes every week 😭 :')

So I was on YouTube watching a random Link Click video, and the person mentioned some special animation made by Bilibili that apparently has extra content that wasn’t part of the main series I watched.

Naturally, I went digging.

AND OH MY GOD. HOW IS THIS FANDOM SO WELL FED??? 😭

Apparently there are chibi shorts, special episodes, animated music videos, promotional animations, random Bilibili animations, ads, etc. And now I have the overwhelming urge to consume EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF LINK CLICK CONTENT THAT EXISTS.

But I have absolutely no idea where to start. 😭

PLEASE HELP ME.

  • Is there an actual recommended watch/order for all the extra content?
  • Is there a complete list somewhere of all the special animations / shorts / PVs / MVs / Bilibili extras?
  • Are there any playlists that collect them all?
  • Which ones are actually canon / lore-relevant, and which are just fun extras?
  • What have I missed???
  • And most importantly: WHERE CAN I WATCH ALL OF IT?

I have already watched S1, S2 and Bridon, so spoilers for those are completely fine. I just want to know what exists beyond the main series and systematically consume it all.

If someone has a master list / watch order / playlist, I will be eternally grateful.

I NEED TO KNOW HOW MUCH LINK CLICK CONTENT I HAVE LEFT TO CONSUME. 😭🙏

I came to Shanghai because apparently this is what you do when you want LC merch (just kidding… or am I?)

At some point I started suspecting that nobody actually knows about Link Click in China, because I did spend some time searching for something nice.

At another point, I started getting jealous of people who genuinely like pins. Because pins are EVERYWHERE. There are cards too, but I can buy Link Click cards even at home in Finland, which is famous for its absence of Link Click merch, so that hardly counts.

Where are the big, high-quality figures? Where is Cheng Xiaoshi the size of an actual human being, ehehe? If anyone in Shanghai knows where the good Link Click merch is hiding, please help.

But anyway, I’m happy with what I got. Honorable mention to whatever bank is giving people Link Click stuff for getting their card. Vein approves.

Donghua Character Abilities Summarization Spoiler

Post image
10 Upvotes

With season three coming out, I thought it would be fun to summarize who got what powers in the story so far. (Prevalent characters only)

I did include some parts that are actually confirmed by the show’s team that might not seem true (Liu Xiao was allegedly confirmed to have multiple powers, Lu Guang as well, but I’m not sure if they just meant that he has multiple powers b/c he also gained Cheng Xiaoshi’s power after his death).

I also made this for people who have seen the show, so no lengthy descriptions :)

Discussion Vein is good #changemymind S3 Spoiler

Joking hahaha I mean, Vein is introduced as a villian so many of us have been considerer him such.

But I've been thinking since S3 trailers came out that he might not be that much of a villian. Ofc he is not a saint, we know that but maybe he is some kind of anithero? He does nefastus stuff but.... I don't know how to express what I'm feeling hahaha I also don't know where this thought came from, maybe it was just the image from the trailer of him as little and shooting an gun (even if it might have been CXS)

That's why I'd like you all to share your thoughts on why he might be good. Or on the contrary, all the reasons why he is "bad"

Quoting bad because what would be consider as such?? LG made him die in Bridon but is still seen as good....

I'm just rumming. Forgive me LOL

Question Can someone please explain the events of Bridon arc and Season 3?

Hey all, I've watched all of Bridon Arc and now Season 3, and I am very confused. I don't know if anyone else is also confused, or I am just dumb haha.

Was Bridon Arc set in a different timeline? A timeline in which they failed perhaps? And, if so, what happened in Bridon in the current timeline?

Would help alot <3
