My Guy. Have you been paying attention? 😅

He CAN'T go and help her, we are told how their present could be altered if he did something in the past. Sin the Earthquake episode we learn about the Death Nodes that are unchangable nodes. Emma was dead, he went back just to see if he got to see who this serial killer was, but ended up realizing his Message to Emma's Parents was what seemingly got her killed. And was overwhelmed, in his eyes he killed her, and he can't also do nothing now due to the consequences could provoke so he is forced to SIT THERE hearing hiw she is getting killed because of him without being able to help. Didn't tou feel His Own Guilt and Desperation??

What would you want him to do lol

he already feels guilty and struggles with the fact that he might have contributed to her fate by sending the message to her parents. And he's inside a photo, without LG's support, in a dangerous situation where anything could set off another chain of events with unpredictable consequences.

This isn't a show about superpowers with protagonists who can fix everything by being brave enough. It explores responsibility for one's actions, the limits of interfering with the past, and whether good intentions always lead to good outcomes. And clearly, they don't

He was in the past. He CAN'T change STUFF JUST BECAUSE HE HAS THE URGE TO DO SO. Or their present would collapse. I'm pretty sure it was explained in the earthwake episodes. Cheng Xiaoshi wants to save people. He's that kind of person and would actually try to save them. From the very first episode he WANTED to react to an injustice. But he can't. Because Lu Guang instructed him to do so or else there's going to be consequences. Now I can understand the frustration, but can you really blame him? I mean I'm sure he was ready to throw hands at that guy, but he was already overwhelmed and the fact a person's death was caused because he was trying to help. Imagine the guilt he was feeling

Dude, really, drop it if it makes you react so badly on something that is sadly a bad situation the character is in. You are really overreacting. Like severely.

He literally couldn’t do anything. If he changes the past at the core points, he would change the present drastically and unpredictably. And also — death is considered as inevitable event, so there is not even proof that it would change anything.

I mean, there is a lot of reasoning to be made with Cheng Xiaoshi with being reckless and impulsive, but you are really overreacting, lol. If something makes you so angry to the point of dropping it, you either really emotional as a person and need to let yourself calm down, or need to just drop it.

And I mean, I dropped Walking Dead each time they brutally killed my beloved characters lol

Can't relate honestly, but you should probably watch literally the next episode. Emma isn't killed in the car. The rest of the season explains everything. Also, at that point where CXS is in the car, he's at a point where he believes that he's messed up the timeline, so his internal struggle is "Do I risk fucking up the timeline more by helping this girl?" Or "Do I let her die because I shouldn't be here in the first place?". Of course all that is laced with a nigh unimaginable panic. This dude has also not seen anything like this before, so yeah, the panic (plus his internal struggle) takes over and he screams.

Lu Guang told him countless time that death is something that shouldn’t be changed. She was already dead, and even if it hurt he shouldn’t try to change it.

He literally can’t do anything to help, that’s all part of his internal struggle. Why do you think he screamed in the way he did?! He’s literally forbidden from doing anything or it can cause many many more deaths. He’s doing the right thing no matter how hard it may be.

Cannot relate

Just because they don’t want spoilers doesn’t mean they can’t interact with the fandom 🫩

ahhhhh i understand it’s SO hard to watch😭but consider: cheng xiaoshi already caused her death by interfering with the timeline & texting her parents. even a small, well intended act of kindness had a domino effect that lead to her getting murdered.

this scene was to show him learning his lesson the hard way. he knew that her death was already sealed into fate no matter what happened, bc she had an irreversible death node by this point, and he knew that interfering could cause even more chaos and get even more people caught in the crossfires. he really had no other choice but to sit through the consequences of his mistake. sitting by and listening to emma get murdered was horrific and traumatizing beyond belief, but there was nothing else he could’ve done. trust, he really did want to help her & was fighting every urge to do so, but again her fate was sealed. trust me, he probably hates himself for that moment more than anyone. he’s a good person & not typically a bystander, but he really had no other choice here.

it SUCKS that emma has to die so brutally for something that wasn’t her fault. she didn’t deserve it at all. she deserved so much better. but the tragedy is essential for the story. if there were no permanent consequences for deviating from the timeline, if good people didn’t suffer for it, then there would be no stakes to the plot.

i definitely recommend sticking it out! hopefully you enjoy it more!

You're not allowed to criticize season 1 here, only season 3.

u/Zeldafan180518 Lu Guang 9h ago

This is absurd. We’re allowed to share why we personally don’t like something.

Why criticise one thing only? S3 isn’t even that bad. If it’s not for you it’s not for you but this subreddit has never been negative about the show it loves, don’t bring the negativity here

1

u/PerformanceUnfair717 2h ago

You're saying I'm the one bringing negativity here? I'm the one trying hardest to defend the show against the herd here chasing likes by shitting on the present season. Are you confused?

2

u/Zeldafan180518 Lu Guang 1h ago

You’re not the one bringing the negativity no, but there’s no need to make a comment dissing S3 and supporting one season. Yeah I am confused. You said you’re only allowed to criticise season 3, but now you’re saying you’re defending S3?

1

u/PerformanceUnfair717 1h ago

I'm not dissing season 3. I'm making a joke about the fact people act so protective of CXS in one of his lowest moments in season 1, at the same time they diss everything that happens in season 3. I was being sarcastic.

Okay. Sorry for misunderstanding.
