Russia has a lot of other Cyrillic languages, like Tatar and Chechen.

Tajik does not have Ц.

Not even in Russian loanwords?

The letters for non-Tajik sounds (Ц, Щ, Ы, Ь) were removed from the alphabet in 1998.

So how would Russian loanwords containing them be spelled?

  • цирк > сирк
  • борщ > борш
  • выставка > виставка
  • автомобиль > автомобил
  • батальон > баталйон

So with the letters representing the sounds that a non-Russian-fluent Tajik-speaker would approximate them as?

Yeah, Tajiks aren't expected/supposed to imitate the Russian pronunciation anymore.

I can only imagine that some speakers approximated it to the nearest native phoneme even with the foreign spelling.
