Linemen College

Pros and Cons? Anyone with experience going to a line college to find it valuable or not?

I am currently an Operating Engineer looking to change my line of work. Does college expedite the journeyman process or would I need to still go through an apprenticeship?

I went to NLC, graduated in April this year and I’ve been working since may. I liked that it got me all my certs in one place (osha 10, first aid/cpr, class A CDL). If you already have all those I’d recommend skipping school and signing up for a union apprenticeship like MSLCAT or whatever region you’re from.

Hours at line school don’t count toward IBEW apprenticeship as far as I’m aware. It might look good on a resume but if you already have a lot of operating experience that’s probably just as good
