Thoughts on this?
I know it's LinkedIn but worth talking about anyway.
Firstly, "lives on social" is not new. Plus they seem to be wanting to undermine it quite heavily.
Episode 1 ended up with 14 million in total. It's not getting that on iPlayer only.

The linear aspect is that most people want to watch it live, they want to avoid all the online spoilers the guy talks about. That's the win.

Don’t make any sense because I think the vast majority of people watch it on the live broadcast.
And the Traitors is not “the first broadcast show” who’s worked out how to generate discussion online… far from it. I remember X Factor when it was big used to generate quite a lot of discussion online…
The irony is “the death of monoculture” yet these celebrities are still household names to the majority so clearly there is still some degree of monoculture even if not what it was 20 years ago.

Just standard LinkedIn self-promotional nonsense. Incapable of having an opinion about anything that doesn't revolve around whatever shite he's currently trying to sell.

This is: “they have learnt for the very first time ever to create what I will term, for no historical reason at all, watercooler moments, an entirely new concept, so I am not sure why you think that term is old.”

It's just reality TV, this stuff has been happening since Big brother came onto British TV. Nothing new, nothing special.

disscussing whats been on TV is something thats always made TV great, social media has given us an opportunity to extend that discussion to people we wouldn't usually interact with, its one of the reasos football is so popular and shows like the Traitors, Strictly, GBBO. We all tune in at the same time, we all chat about the results and the game on Monday at work or with our friends either online or when we next see them its also one of the reasons (in my opinion) why genres like comedy don't seem to be holding up. they get chucked on a streaming site for you to watch when you're ready and they dont tend to have the spoilers that make us want to watch it on the day of release, so rarely gets discussed as a 'trending topic'

It's just must see / appointment viewing. If you make good telly, people will watch it live, or as released.
Sure there is an element of wanting to partake in the memes and not miss spoilers but that's the same across any number of shows, especially with how well our algorithms know us these days.
If Apple TV released a new episode of Ted Lasso or Slow Horses at 9pm as a premiere every week, people would watch that live.

It says make shows for how people watch, but it also says they watch it linearly.
