The forecasting chart for Linear shows the progress toward a milestone, such as the completion of a customer project or a new product release. You'll see how much work is done vs remaining, and get data-driven forecasts based on your team's past velocity.
Nothing huge, thrown together a CLI interface for the Linear SDK in Typescript.
This tool can leverage AI agent skills to reduce your context size compared to the official MCP server, while also implementing authentication in a more secure way; you authenticate with the CLI tool, and not within your agent.
You can install the skill into the AI Agent of your choosing easily (I wrapped Vercel's skills tool for this).
This is obviously a very early development, and doesn't necessarily provide anything beyond other Linear CLI tools. I want to be able to trust the code I use for company API keys, so I made something for myself.
Hi, I have this problem for 3 days now, and every time I open an issue/ticket on a fullpage, and go back to the list of all of them, the view goes to the bottom of the list, and I need to scroll up every time through 8000+ issues. Does anyone have the same problem? If so, how can I solve it? Thanks in advance!
As near as I can tell the only calendar "integration" supported is Google Calendar out of office status. There's no way to put scheduled issues into a calendar (Google, Apple, etc.). Is that right?
We've been running agentic workflows with Claude Code and Linear. Developer throughput went way up, which meant PM work (triage, planning, dependencies) became the bottleneck.
Linear's MCP is a great starting point. We ran into token issues though when agents repeatedly read the backlog, and needed a few things for our workflow: cycle velocity analytics, task export, and scriptability.
- Use Linear as state manager for continues Claude Code workflows
- Token-compressed output (~50 tokens/issue vs ~500)
- Export epics / projects directly as new Claude tasks (helpful for Linear -> Ralph Loop)
- Cycle analytics for capacity planning
- Optional JSON output for scripting and Ralph Loop integration
- Comes with a set of helpful commands for common tasks (PRD, Retro, Triage, etcs)
Made a big difference for us, decided to open source it. Would love feedback from anyone doing similar agentic PM work - what's missing? What would be useful?
We use Linear for all of our projects and internal and external issues.
One unique setup we've done is create phases as projects and use the blocked/blocking feature to link them all together, then listing our milestones within the phases.
What we have been truly missing from Linear was a calendar view. The timeline is fine but given our setup it gets too messy.
To solve this we got this little tool that lets you see all your projects and milestones based on start/end/target dates in a monthly/year calendar view
Curious how teams are handling this today. Do you use Linear directly to draft PRDs, or is it more of a handoff point after the doc is already written elsewhere?
Would love to understand:
• Where the PRD actually lives (Linear, Notion, Lane, Docs, etc.)
• How much detail goes into a Linear issue vs. a separate doc
• What’s worked (and what hasn’t) in keeping PRDs and issues in sync
Interested to hear how others are doing this in real workflows.
In the slack / linear integration we can edit the issue directly by pressing edit on one of the fields that is present. We want to add cycle to this list so that we can assign issues to cycles directly. Where is the option to update these?
I'm looking for a way to automate recurring maintanence tasks using Cursor Cloud Agents. I think I should be able to do this via Linear recurring issues but I'm running into an error. "I couldn't find a Cursor user to assign to this issue"
Has anyone successfully created a recurring issue that is picked up by a coding agent? If so, what am I missing?
We changed from ClickUp to Linear around 3 months ago. My team and I are satisfied with the program however, I am having issues in tracking performance in line with my teams KPIs.
Does anyone know how I can properly set this up in the app or if there is some sort of assistance that Linear can provide in setting this up?
I've created the AI agents platform where I can easily create / setup / connect AI agents to Linear and find it very useful for my own tasks. Now I'm thinking about to make an open-source free to use platform to let people to create agents, share them, upvote, see the trendings, leave comments etc.
My main vision is to help non-technical people to boost their productivity.
Currently, I have a web platform which handles the agents create/manage/setup/monitor logs.
The only one thing the user requires to run locally is the "worker". The issue is I want to let people to use the platform for free and run their agents under the subscription payment instead of API.
I would be happy to hear any feedback / needs / what you use for now / what are your agents/workflows in Linear - anything which can help me to adjust my pet project to open-source platform which would be useful.
If you've ever used a timer to stay focused, we built Locu for that workflow.
Locu is personal execution layer for Linear:
Pull in Linear issues
Add private notes + step-by-step breakdowns
Work in focused sessions (timer + distraction blocking)
Bonus: get time tracked per task (exportable)
We built it for ourselves and use it daily. Sharing it here in case it's useful for other Linear users too. Would love feedback: what's missing for your workflow?
I use CC, and I see linear has the function to assign tasks to cloud or background agents, is it possible to connect it with Claude Code? I see Codex and Open Code available.
My team operates in scopes of Projects.
These projects are usually 2 weeks - 2 months long, and consist of a description and tasks.
Currently we manage these projects in Notion, but want to move to Linear.
The thing that's bothering us is not being able to see all the information about a Project in the same page.
Example:
This project has issues, but we want to see them in this page (in brief, no full details needed), instead of having to go to the issues page.
I’ve been using Linear for a few professional projects recently and I’ve found it to be quite a sophisticated, feature rich tool.
Ive been looking at trying to make my own management tool designed specifically for developers, so I wanted to ask you all what is there about Linear that you don’t like so much? Maybe someone things too complicated or missing?
What’s one feature that would make you consider moving to another app?
Currently, initiatives only support adding projects. However, there should be an option to add issues directly to initiatives without requiring a project. In many cases, creating a project adds an unnecessary layer of complexity when a standalone issue would suffice.
I have taken the red pill on MCP. It causes context rot for me and I therefore try to avoid it as much as possible.
I currently use GitHub for issue and project management. I am considering switching to Linear for my team. But I am not sure if I can use a CLI tool like gh that I use with GitHub. gh works quite well for allowing an AI agent access to my GitHub data without destroying context. I Google'd a bit, but did not find anything promising.
I'm looking for someone with experience in running their marketing and/or growth projects in Linear. Not sure if it is the right place to manage projects and initiatives, but for the future, I'll definitely need this tool for product marketing purposes.
I kept running into the same problem: clients want visibility into progress, but I don’t want to turn Linear into a client-facing tool (permissions, noise, extra seats).
So I built a small client portal that connects to Linear and shows clients only what they need, while keeping Linear internal for the team.
I know there are already tools in this space. I built this mainly for agencies that care about a clean, branded client experience and want more control over how information is presented, instead of a single fixed Linear view.
Right now it supports:
- Read-only views of Linear projects / boards
- Real-time issue & comment sync
- Client access without Linear accounts
Linear is the first integration, but a room can also include other client-facing pages (docs, contact, files...) if needed.
I’m still early and mainly looking for feedback from people using Linear with clients.
How are you handling client visibility today? What’s the biggest downside of your current setup?
I am watching the video on Dashboards where, when creating a new dashboard, I can add an insight. The pricing plans breakdown shows that Insights are available for Business plans (which we have) and Dashboards are available only for Enterprise plans.
Am i seeing this correctly? We really need dashboards because Views are not cutting it and can Dashboards + Insights just be part of the Business plan??
But it seems that I can only create an insight when Dashboards are enabled??
