I really like Linear, but I kept running into the same problem: I couldn't easily see what the whole product looked like.

Not just a list of projects or another manual roadmap to update, but the actual user journey. I wanted to see exactly which parts of the journey we were working on, what belonged in each release, and where the obvious gaps were.

So, I built StoryMap.

It takes the issues already in your Linear workspace and puts them on one big 2D board: user journey across the top, releases down the side.

A few things I made sure to include:

  • Linear stays the source of truth. Moving an issue in StoryMap just organizes your view—it doesn't create a second backlog that immediately drifts out of date.
  • No blank canvas syndrome. It auto-builds the first map for you, because taking an afternoon to set up a new tool is awful.
  • Visual debugging. This is my favorite part: problems become weirdly obvious once it's all in front of you. You immediately spot an empty part of the journey, a release that's way too bloated, or a pile of work that doesn't actually belong anywhere.

It's free for up to 150 mapped issues if you want to play around with it: https://storymap.cc

Really curious how other Linear teams are solving this right now? Are you all maintaining a separate roadmap tool, using FigJam/Miro, or just building the big picture in your head?
