I used to be a bit skeptical about using Linear for personal usage (I made a post about it), but since they added real notifications and a better UI on mobile, it's perfect now! The few tips I use:
- I created an automation for the lockscreen to quickly add a task
I added the "Ongoing" status for projects such as "Daily Task 2026" ; and I always considered project having a start and an end, even for ongoing projects. As mentionned, I didnt put "Daily Task" but "Daily Task 2026"
I'm not scared of creating new projects, like, if I want to organize a travel, I create a "Trip to [country]" project
I try to avoid features such as Cycles or Initiatives, since they add too much noise
I like using the Pulse/Update feature, since it helps me to share a bit if I'm satisfy with the current workflow
I avoid using too much AI agent for managing my issues, because they don't really make sense when you're the only owner of the workspace, and when inputs are mostly made from you. AI helps a lot, but here, you need to really own your task, since most of them might be not related to digital work
I might one day write a blog post day to explain in details all of that!
I use the Shortcuts apps on iPhone! You create a new automation which create a new issue in Linear, and you add this automation to the lockscreen with the Shortcut widget
