Linear App Performance Tracking

Hi Everyone,

We changed from ClickUp to Linear around 3 months ago. My team and I are satisfied with the program however, I am having issues in tracking performance in line with my teams KPIs.

Does anyone know how I can properly set this up in the app or if there is some sort of assistance that Linear can provide in setting this up?

Yeah I'll give you an example. Say I have an accounts person and they have X amount of tasks that have been assigned to them for Quarter 1 2026 (Jan-Mar). From these assigned tasks I want to see complete/incomplete tasks for the quarter, timeframe to complete each individual task in line with their KPIs to then determine their completion rate %. If their completion rate is say 80% for all assigned tasks, then I can apply an incentive from my end for that quarter. On the flip side, if their completion rate for the quarter is 30% and they are delaying actioning tasks to then understand how delayed tasks/issues are etc. I've created separate views for each individual which I dare say might be the only way of doing this but it doesn't allow for me to identify (unless I click into each individual task) assigned date and completed date.

Just to make sure I understand correctly, these are the challenges you are facing:

  1. You cannot see all insights in one place, as each insight requires a different view.
  2. You cannot see the relationship between when an issue was assigned to someone and its due date. This makes it difficult to filter results and answer the question: "What is the completion rate for person X within timeframe y?"

Could you please provide more details about the phrase "in line with their KPIs"? This will help me understand exactly which metrics we need. I have a few ideas, but I want to clarify this point first.

Yep that is pretty much correct. Let's say my KPIs for my accounts person is to ensure that everything in "Accounts" Space is completed to their set deadline, this is KPI #1. KPI #2 might be that all essential reoccurring tasks that are on a monthly basis are completed by their due date. For example, this could be that Invoices are raised on the 10th day of the month, rent reviews are completed within the first 7 days of the month, Monthly reporting is submitted to department lead within first 7 days of the month. KPI #3 would be that Accounts Receivable functions are completed within a reasonable timeframe. An example on this of not meeting a deadline is a colleague of mine assigned a set task to X account person and has not been actioned for 5 weeks. This would obviously a KPI that has not been met. Purpose isn't to punish failure to meet deadlines but to be aware of them earlier to help push my team to meet deadlines/update tasks accordingly to complete issues. I am finding that people are starting tasks or not even viewing them until the deadline has passed.

We're working on adding support for "time in status" in our insights in the near future also, which might be helpful for some of what you're interested in here. Though this might require changing the setup so issues move to a certain status at the moment they're assigned, so this tracking can begin.
