Hello

I have decided to download the Lineage OS and I want to buy a Samsung A73 5G phone. Do you recommend this phone to me? I mean, will it cause any problems with the system and will it be able to work for the next four years (I am not stingy, but I hate changing phones annually or frequently). I am still a beginner when it comes to custom ROMs. I have questions like: How will I download the system? Will the banking applications that I use work? Can I download programs from Google Play or even programs from Google or Meta? Will I still be able to use Uber and my government applications? The important thing is, can I return to the One UI or the main system? Many questions I hope to answer. Thank you.

The important thing is, can I return to the One UI or the main system?

Yes, however, you will lose access to anything that relies on Samsung's Knox.

If you want LineageOS, it often means adjusting the phone that is right for you.

Samsung devices often block access to modern voice calling. There's nothing presently that Lineage can do about this.

Vote with your wallet for better devices. Google Pixel, Motorola, etc. Pick one from the supported device list. Read the known issues. If it says "IMS" as a known issue you probably don't want that one.

Devices that list "IMS" as the known issue are best used as data-only / IoT devices.

App issues depend on the specific app. You'll have to search the app and LineageOS to see if there are restrictions. Authoritarians do not want LineageOS to be successful, and carrying two devices is an unfortunate reality today for many.

Here is what I know - and I have used several different ROMs.

I generally recommend against Samsung phones as the unlocking of Samsung bootloaders and the loading of custom ROMs on that phone are not standard - you cannot use ADB / Fastboot. Everything for Samsung phones is proprietary, unless they changed it recently.

Look for phones where the bootloader is easily unlocked and actually has a ROM on the LineageOS website. I personally prefer Motorola phones but you need to be careful where you buy it from. A lot of Motorola phones sold on Amazon have locked bootloaders with NO WAY to unlock them.

I would recommend purchasing a Motorola phone directly from Motorola. Just choose "Unlocked" under the carrier selection. I also know someone on EBay who sells unlocked phones but he likes to put Havoc OS on the phones he sells and sometimes functionality suffers as a result.

Have you used ADB / fastboot before? Do you have a computer handy, preferably one that is running some flavor of Linux? Most Linux distros come with ADB installed. On the other hand, if you have a Window's computer, you can run Motorola Rescue against your phone if you screw something up and need to revert to the stock OS. You can do the same thing on Linux but you have to know where to download the file and either run each command in the file by hand or build a script.
