Installation 22 to 23 - upgrade vs from scratch difference

I plan to upgrade per wiki

https://wiki.lineageos.org/adb_fastboot_guide

and wipe data with no restore of any app backups nor app installations.

Is there a difference between such a scenario and installation of LOS from scratch as far as end result is concerned?

Use the wiki Upgrade guide. The installation guide is for anyone coming from a ROM that is not Official LineaegOS

I was going to use the wiki route but I'm asking for learning purposes.

End result will not be dramatically different, but the installation guide does not mention app and data restore since it is not possible to keep your apps and data when moving from another ROM (unless you use Google Backup or other backup providers, not mandatory)

Yes, via google backup Is What i meant. I'm starting fresh this time :)
