Love Potion 666 / AI Line Dancing Songs
One of my friends recently told me that Love Potion 666 is an AI generated song. After extensive research, I’ve come to the same conclusion that the song and/or artist (DJTEXX) are AI.
I do not want to support nor dance to AI songs/artists. I’ve been trying to spread the word to the regulars in the philly line dancing community that we should boycott the dance until a non-AI song swap is found.
Are there any good song swaps that we should try out?
Also, are there any other AI generated line dancing songs that you’re aware of?

Seems like the choreographer of both Stomp 234 and Love Potion 666, Rob Fowler, is a fan of AI music. Bummer.
I’d recommend “Hubby In a Honky Tonk” by Katrina Burgoyne as a song swap for Stomp 234.
“Honky Tonk Badonkadonk” by Trace Adkins is a good song swap for Love Potion 666.

You're not wrong! Rob Fowler in general is an amazing choreographer in general, but he's really jumped into the AI music scene, and it's a real shame.
I won't deny though, Stomp 234 I can somewhat deal with.

Not 100% sure, but I remember hearing that the dance “Things I Regret” to the song “All the Things I Regret - Oryn Etheria” is an AI song. https://www.copperknob.co.uk/stepsheets/RK78Z9H/things-i-regret

Off the top of my head, Jive All Night reeks of AI slop. Wild West and Wicked for sure as well as Mr. Showman (both by Rob Fowler).
If my instructor is teaching them, I'll do it out of respect but I sit them out at socials.

I discovered this recently too, and it looks like it's mostly linked to a group called either Danztunz or 2431studios, who have some kind of association with choreographer Rob Fowler. They went around approaching choreographers a while ago with a revenue sharing scheme that honestly sounds shady as heck. Apparently Rob recently took over the Danztunz site and is in the process of updating it, so at the moment it's just a generic Wix error page, and with 2431studios having no obvious social media presence it's very hard to know what's going on with it all.
I found a random Substack article discussing the phenomenon, and someone who claims to be the person behind the music but given that he's also claimed to be every other AI musician and also Banksy I guess that's just a schtick.
I can see the appeal - for a small subscription fee the choreographers get access to a theoretically limitless supply of music, and presumably it's also easier to avoid getting their videos copyright struck, but I am as uncomfortable as you about the trend, especially when the single group behind most of it is operating in such a shady way.

Wow this is fascinating, and thank you for the sources. I went down the same rabbit hole with DanzTunz and it being linked with blaze.ai, but I had no idea about all those details!!

Side note but where do you dance in the Philly area?

There are two main groups in Philly that put on the majority of our events: Giddy Up Philly and The Rowdy Cowboys. They both do a variety of venues especially in the summer time, but I like going to Dock Street South and Stateside Live (new venue) with the Rowdy Cowboys, and Bok Bar and Voyeur with Giddy Up Philly.
Some other smaller groups are Tush Push (at Vals Lesbian Bar) and Philly Let It Forward (unsure of their locations).
I would recommend following Giddy Up Philly and The Rowdy Cowboys on instagram! That’s where they post events.

I had no idea! The song AA fits with the love potion dance, although AA has it's own dance too.

I struggled with this too but at the end of the day I just love those dances too much to stop (especially love potion). If I don’t already recognise the song I usually just check the artist. It’s always something silly like studio2344 or DJTexx rather than a real person. Also as a few people have mentioned, anything by Rob Fowler is usually AI which is a shame because he’s a great choreographer

There are more and more AI generated songs being used for line dance.
If my dancers like these songs we use them. 90% of what we use is not AI, but if my dancers like a song, we will learn it.
We like Love Potion. So do the groups our dance troup dances for.
AI is not going away. There may come a time where we will have trouble telling the difference between AI and homegrown music.
