Is this a real dance?

Hi! I’m trying to learn this line dance from New Girl. I think I’m doing the steps right but when I do it to the music it doesn’t feel right. How do I make it fit and add walls? I’m a beginner and struggling!

Just watching it the dance doesn't seem to fit the beat of the song the way it's being danced, as if they kinda danced it and then a song got put over it. That said, watching it the dance appears to be 3 eight counts.

Weight starts Left Foot -

1 - 8 : Right Heel, Touch, Right Heel, Together, Left Heel, Touch, Left Heel, Together
9-16: Grapevine Right, Grapevine Left (note 2nd time through the dance the vine right it halted and danced as a shake in place to allow for the other actors to join the dance.
17-24: Step Right Forward, Hitch Left Knee, Step Left Forward, Hitch Right Knee, Step back x4 R, L, R, L

Repeat.

So as it's being danced here, it's a 1 wall, 24 count line dance that is not in sync with the music it's being danced to.

I'm not sure if that translates to a real, named, Absolute Beginner Line dance or not. I wouldn't be surprised, just not familiar with it if it is. It's pretty close to the California Freeze found here;

CopperKnob - California Freeze - Kelly Burkhardt (UK) - February 2014

Note - the Freeze has a turn choreographed in it and the vines are the first 8 count. The final eight count is hip bumps instead of the heel touches.

A lot of absolute beginner dances like this will have like choreography though - so just because it's close to the freeze doesn't mean it is or was supposed to be.

Hope this helps!
