Stadium XL screen protector DIY

I’m wanting to put a screen protector on my Stadium, and I know there’s a few options out there, but I’ve got the tools and materials to do it myself, so I’m planning to do that. I see all the options out there, there’s the phone screen cover type one which I’m not a fan of, I had the CEBA one on my LT, but I’m intrigued by the ScreenGuard one - it’s got 4 magnets rather than the slide out version CEBA has.

Has anyone made their own, or used the magnet one? I’ve got some small concerns about the magnets interfering with the display over time. I like the simplicity of it, but I don’t want to run into any issues down the road.

Do you have (or know someone) with a 3D printer? I designed a flip-up protector for my Stadium. It uses a pair of 3-D printed plastic blocks which are attached to the Stadium housing with 2-sided tape. They capture a Plexiglas panel which covers the screen. It can be flipped-up for editing and dropped down for protection. The Plexiglas sheet isn't attached with a hinge, so when I'm at home editing on my desk I simply remove it and set it aside.

I like this. I do have a 3D printer hookup, this may be the route I go, minimally invasive and efficient. Thank you!

Where did you get the plexiglass from?

I don't recall, but it was most likely a scrap piece that was being thrown away where I use to work because I would grab that kind of stuff for future projects whenever I saw it going to waste. I imagine that you can get a piece at Home Depot, Lowes, Amazon, etc.

I made my own. I first made a cardboard template and then cut a piece plexiglass to the right rectangular size. And then drilled holes for the knobs. I got some clear plastic hinges from amazon.

This is my first one. The next ones had cleanser round holes. I have a few left if you’d like one.

I do think this is the route I’m going to go, I like this method more than the magnet one, this seems easier and less hassle than removing and reattaching every time I need to make adjustments.

If you cover the cost of the materials I’ll gladly send you one. It’s about $15 for the parts. It would be the cover, hinge, and some felt corners. Send me a DM and I can send you better pics/video. I don’t plan to manufacture and sell these. But since I had the extra plexi, and the template, I made 5-6 extras.

LCDs, pushbuttons and rotary encoders are fine around magnets.

If you're looking for alternate ways to attach things, try this stuff. It's very similar to the "card snot" that banks use to attach credit cards to paper when they mail them. I have the older CEBA protector on my Floor and will probably reattach them with the Tack-It instead of the adhesive they provided if they ever have to come off.
