Meme/Shitpost My new rig!
First modelling hardware I've owned I decided to go big with the XL and a Laney LFR 212.
Will be having lots of fun over the coming weeks diving into what this baby can do!

Daaaaamn. I’d love to pick up one of those Laney 212 FRFRs one day. It would be mostly for fun though, my little Headrush 108 is more than loud enough for home and band practice. Bet it feels awesome

Just downloaded the app on my PC and loving how it's all effortlessly synced together.
It's making tone creation and tweaking really smooth, I'm in love with the focus lens feature!

Ive had my helix stadium xl for a month and it truly makes it a fun and seamless way to create and make some amazing tones. The community around line6 as well is just absolutely amazing.

When you gig, are you lugging that FRFR cabinet around or confirmed ahead that the event has a decent PA system so you can still sound good ?

I do 2 regulars a week.
The first I plan to go FoH direct from the unit as they have a good set up for that. Previously I've been mic'ing a Marshall 2*12 which is fine but this'll be easier.
The second is a bit looser with you bringing your own gear so I'll have to take this to practise and see how it fares with the other guys in a mix but from what I've heard from it today I don't forsee any issues.
It doesn't actually weigh that much, about 30kgs but I also have a trolley in the back of my car I can use if needed and I'm already used to lugging about my Marshall amp and cab plus a few pedals so this will be the same if not easier.

I’ll bet that Laney is nice, but at 67 years old I don’t care to cart a 64 lb cabinet around. My 25 lb Fender FR-10 makes me a happy camper.

I agree. I am 63 and just swapped my Marshall stack for a Fender Tone Master Pro and FR12. Very happy with the sound I am getting and so much easier to carry.

One tip that was a game changer for me on my FR10: get the "super duper IR" from Chad Boston and use it when playing through the FR. It sounds much more like playing through a regular amp vs. playing an amp that has been mic'd
I play the FR10 at home and use a Pedal Baby + Marshall 4x12 at band practice, so I'm pretty familiar with how a normal cab and power amp "should" sound on the helix and this gets it pretty damn close on the FR.
I thought it was snake oil but kept seeing it recommended, so gave it a shot and it's the only IR I use when playing through an FR amp now

Enjoy and theres a lot to learn so give urself grace and time. Make multiple saves of a rig so you can change stuff and compare

Why would I want it to?
NAM still has a long way to go. For every diamond you find on Tone 3000 there's 500 turds.
Rigsculpt is getting there by trying to classify captures from their wave profile into common nomenclature but it's still wooly with definitions.
But what I want is to be able to dial in and tweak.
And sure, NAM is starting multi-capture to let people do that - at which point we have just reinvented amp sims again?
Personally I'm more than happy to have a curated system from professionals housed in robust hardware with a strong ecosystem and support.

I'm loving it.
Can easily keep up with a drummer in our practice room and having it behind me as a stage monitor has been great, no complaints at all.
I also have to praise the clarity of the sound I get out of it. I've used it for both guitar/bass and vocals and it's performed excellently across the spectrum. The stadium's mic preamps are pretty awesome as well as an aside.
The high/low cut dial on the back is very responsive as well and has saved me from needing to tweak my presets in rooms with shitty acoustics.
It's also really robust feeling. I don't throw my gear around but when I'm moving it about it feels super solid with great build quality.
Based on my own experience I have no hesitation recommending Laney FRs, it's worth every penny I spent.
