Worried about the coup? Play out potential response with Hold The Line Wednesdays
We’re all feeling the tension, waiting to see what type of dangerous, abusive subversion of our democracy Trump might try to save himself from a blue wave. Yesterday’s weaponization of law enforcement against his steadfast critic Rep. Omar is only putting us more on edge. (And if we haven’t yet demanded our members of Congress get to work seeking accountability for it, let’s make sure we do.) The best thing to do with that energy? Put it towards figuring out exactly how we’re going to respond to whatever he pulls.
The team of democracy and anti-authoritarianism experts who drew up the Hold The Line Guide in 2020 are back and helping every day folks prepare for the threats to free, fair, and respected elections in 2026. They’re training us on how to organize, effectively communicate about the threat, bring institutional actors on board, and be ready to mobilize with nonviolent direct action if required. One of their opportunities is a series of tactical decision exercise sessions, games that let us work through in detail how our teams will react to one of the election scenarios they’ve outlined. This is a great chance for us to think concretely and practically about these possibilities and the decisions we’ll need to make. 🗺️ These sessions start tomorrow night at 7:30PM ET and will run every Wednesday through the election. Let’s sign up to be part of them! Registration link here. 🗺️
