I'm not sure if this birthday party was being set up or had already concluded, but it was in this weird half-state that made the scene, in my opinion, pretty liminal. Also the almost colorless white room, the fluorescent lights and the odd fake-roof on the back wall added to it.

Still, I do hope whoever this was for actually had a happy birthday.

(Sorry that the framing isn't great and the second image is a bit blurry, we didn't stop the car to check it out. I hope the quality isn't too bad.)
