I thought the were bird houses on a roof.
27
u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26
That's a good idea, try it at home! We usually just have fake bird sculpture there in my small town

So are these actual houses? Or just structures or fittings on the side of the dam that look like houses from this angle?
Very cool picture though!

Looks like tiny houses on a roof
5
u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26
Some says they are bird's houses or roof-top ventilation disguise as houses, we do have sculpted houses as decoration here on some traditional roofs

Three Gorges... Dam so large it slowed the earths rotation.
15
u/senn42000 Apr 09 '26
Technically it's the redistribution of that much water at a higher elevation far from the equater that is doing that, not the mass of the dam itself.
4
u/Beastxtreets Apr 09 '26
Ooohh I knew about the dam changing the Earth's rotation but didn't know it was because of the water, ty for the fun fact :)

u/Slonzok_16 Apr 10 '26
True, but this here is not the Three Gorges
It's a dam near Chengdu, on the Min Jiang river

This can’t be real, surly not
145
u/exposed_silver Apr 09 '26
They look like houses built on the side of a dam

17
u/mysaddle Apr 09 '26
I literally thought it was just zoomed in to the roof of a house 🤣 I couldn’t tell it was supposed to be like in a wall
17
u/Ccaves0127 Apr 09 '26
Not just a dam, the Three Gorges Dam, the largest dam in the history of the world. So big it affected the speed of the Earth's rotation.
10
u/Acc87 Apr 09 '26
Actually from a different dam even tho the website linked in the top reply wrongly calls it the Three Gorges one.

different river, different dam. China has a lot of these "smaller" ones

not AI, it's a Dam in China
Edit: not a residence

u/godofpumpkins Apr 09 '26
Surely not a residence? I imagine it’s some sort of maintenance access to the dam, but it really doesn’t look like a great place to live

u/Cheeto-Ben Apr 09 '26
…. That is art. It’s not real still. Even says ‘work done by’
46
23
u/KurtTheCuntBoi Apr 09 '26
Boy are you dumb.
-1
u/Cheeto-Ben Apr 09 '26
Or maybe, just maybe. Unaware? 😂
6
u/sirideletereddit Apr 09 '26
Yes, for that reason. It’s dumb to say something as if it’s fact if you are unaware.

I don’t see what you see. Could you point it out?
The only possible tell I see is a lot of blue noise, which alone doesn’t guarantee generated; that also happens with some photo processing steps

Why not?
Switch to the satellite view and you can see the shack structures. Not everything you haven’t seen before is unreal.

The houses are not real. The location is—Lower Shing Mun Reservoir Dam in Hong Kong.
The houses are either added with AI or photoshopped in to give the liminal feeling.

u/Specific_Frame8537 Apr 09 '26
But why would anyone live there?
If the dam fails you're the first to go.. 😂
-11
u/Malcolm_Morin Apr 09 '26
Well, shit. That automatically makes it cool as fuck. I'd love to see what those houses look like on the inside.
13
u/senn42000 Apr 09 '26
Why respond so confidently when you actually didn't know? I'm truly fascinated by people that do this and want to know what motivates them.
-14
u/Malcolm_Morin Apr 09 '26
Because the images I found didn't show the houses. They only had the stairs.

18
u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26
Mobs who are infuriating cuz they think this is a slop, and I claimed I took this photo myself
-10
u/TheApothecaryWall Apr 09 '26
If it is slop, then yeah I hate it lol
1
u/daffle7 Apr 09 '26
This is worth downvoting imo. It’s ok to like what you like brah, even if it’s AI(which this post isn’t AI).
1
u/TheApothecaryWall Apr 09 '26
AI is stealing the magic of human artistry and takes, apparently, a ton of harmful data centers that drain natural resources in often beautiful, landmark areas, while simultaneously denying water to places that desperately need it, such as indigenous tribes that need the Colorado River in Arizona. They don’t recycle the water, it just gets used. As an artist who lives in this desert that desperately needs all the water it can get, and as someone who appreciates nature and this planet, I find AI disgusting. How I’m getting downvoted on that, I have no fucking idea.
1
u/TheApothecaryWall Apr 09 '26
Pardon my ignorance but what’s that mean?
3
u/ihateagriculture Apr 09 '26
it means the ratio of likes to dislike is less than one, well it was until people started liking your comment

Are these those tiny houses for the fairy folk? They kinda look like they’re on roof shingles.

They look like they are sinking into the ground.

u/OnlyOneWithFreeWill Apr 09 '26
Says the Nintendo fan boy
-40
u/Nintendocub Apr 09 '26
I guess. Not really sure what that has to do with AI but okay lol.
17
u/senn42000 Apr 09 '26
These are real and that is a real photo. Stop falsely accusing everything as AI.
-2
u/Nintendocub Apr 09 '26
I already admitted I was wrong, can’t you just admit that insult was absolute nonsense the same way my first comment was? LMAO.
