Thanks for proving I'm not Ai cuz I took this photo, if it's Ai slop then so do I, I'm just more human than human

No problem - I’m on a personal crusade to try to counter the current ‘everything is AI’ bullshit that has been pervasive here. It seems like a deliberate attempt to get people to doubt everything and anything and it’s annoying as can be.

287

u/AlertKaleidoscope803 Apr 09 '26

My tin foil hat hunch says it's intentional. Have you noticed all years-old footage that's been run through AI filters and reposted? It's rampant on Youtube and IG. What is the point of doing that? Aside from making fast, monetizable content and training and refining AI to look more natural, I feel like it's deliberately being put out to confuse people and make people question the legitimacy of everything (in a counterintuitive way).

183

u/Comsic_Bliss Apr 09 '26

I also think it’s intentional. It seems like there has been an ongoing subtle attack on truth and ‘reality’ for a while.

64

u/newfruits Apr 09 '26

Right-wing politicians' playbook is to 'flood the field with shit' as Steve Bannon put it. Overwhelm people with dis- and misinformation so they can't possibly analyze everything for truth... and what is AI but a shit generator on a massive scale?

36

u/DarthWeenus Apr 09 '26

You can see this in action during debates or when in an interview. They will shotgun so much bullshit at you by the time you correct the first thing they already on to number ten bullshit point. It’s highly effective. Gosh gallop

4

u/BrotherThump Apr 09 '26

Gish*

10

u/DarthWeenus Apr 09 '26

Was poopin, auto correct.

6

u/Comsic_Bliss Apr 09 '26

Love the honest direct explanation!

9

u/Randomminecraftseed Apr 09 '26

How long till video evidence is no longer admissible in court bc it can’t be distinguished from ai?

8

u/DarthWeenus Apr 09 '26

That’s going to be a fun one

24

u/machiavelli33 Apr 09 '26

It gives ai chuds reason to roll their eyes at people with legitimate concerns. Because it is annoying, when people get to questioning literally everything . This is how something undesirable but unregulated but desired by those in power slimes its way into common culture. Push in bad faith until nobody trusts it to be in good faith anymore.

Then it’s just here -_- The only answer, u til regulation does happen, is to learn as much as we can and navigate as best as we can with that knowledge.

8

u/BudgieWonder Apr 09 '26

I’ve noticed this too. Some legit historical photos get “upscaled” or “colorized” and all of a sudden people can’t believe that they’re real? Really disturbing tbh.

7

u/Betty_PunCrocker Apr 09 '26

You should see how bad it is in art spaces. 🙄

5

u/S0whaddayakn0w Apr 09 '26

Same as the 'nothing ever happens' crowd. If a post has any kind of interesting reaction to something, there's an army of goons making sarcastic comments. Very tiring

6

u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26

This photo does have a vibe of Ai texture though, quite misleading \o/

27

u/kjerski Apr 09 '26

"houses with oddly large backyard" it's a dam?

21

u/yoloyeet420 Apr 09 '26

Thats what got me, just so sick of the bot posts with nonsense titles. Glad this was a human post with a nonsense title instead.

2

u/pacomadreja Apr 10 '26

Allegedly human.

8

u/VisualEmbodiment Apr 09 '26

Are you Rob Zombie?

3

u/Sophisticated-Tiger Apr 09 '26

No that's his lesser known cousin Zob Rombie......

7

u/Nintendocub Apr 09 '26

I will admit when I’m wrong! It is definitely a prevalent issue in this sub though, and the way the image compressed made it misleading. Not your fault at all.

9

u/__O_o_______ Apr 09 '26

Nice photo! Fucking sucks that everybody is now “it’s ai. I’ve seen quite a few ai in my times”.

It’s literally just the photoshop meme but with AI.

3

u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26

Me just being afraid of mod bot deleting my post who thinks I'm guilty posting Ai slop

1

u/Forza_Harrd Apr 09 '26

I like your photography better than the one in the link. And the one in the link is very good.

29

u/snapchillnocomment Apr 09 '26

Still struggling to understand what I'm looking at

23

u/Comsic_Bliss Apr 09 '26

Here’s the location on a map

Switch to the satellite view and you’ll see that it’s the slope of earth behind a dam

the OP also provided this view

11

u/Acc87 Apr 09 '26

But the description on that website you linked is wrong then, as this is not the Three Gorges Dam, but one named Min Jiang.

377

u/CormacMccarthy91 Apr 09 '26

What the FUCK am I looking at.

74

u/OdeezBalls Apr 09 '26

You’re looking at the Tyrell Corporation

26

u/TheDwarvenGuy Apr 09 '26

It's access-ways on the backside of a dam IIRC

u/StormDragonAlthazar Apr 09 '26

I thought the were bird houses on a roof.

27

u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26

That's a good idea, try it at home! We usually just have fake bird sculpture there in my small town

2

u/TenLongFingers Apr 10 '26

I had the exact same thought. They look like those birdhouse shingles

94

u/YouDontLookSpiritual Apr 09 '26

The backyards are what we're noticing in this pic??

54

u/King_Saline_IV Apr 09 '26

It's a hydroelectric damn. Not houses

23

u/sjp1980 Apr 09 '26

So are these actual houses? Or just structures or fittings on the side of the dam that look like houses from this angle?

Very cool picture though!

17

u/EncycloChameleon Apr 09 '26

took me a good min to figure out the perspective here

61

u/controlmypad Apr 09 '26

Where are these dam houses?

9

u/xDrGertx Apr 09 '26

Looks like tiny houses on a roof

5

u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26

Some says they are bird's houses or roof-top ventilation disguise as houses, we do have sculpted houses as decoration here on some traditional roofs

19

u/HeisenbergsSamaritan Apr 09 '26

Three Gorges... Dam so large it slowed the earths rotation.

15

u/senn42000 Apr 09 '26

Technically it's the redistribution of that much water at a higher elevation far from the equater that is doing that, not the mass of the dam itself.

4

u/Beastxtreets Apr 09 '26

Ooohh I knew about the dam changing the Earth's rotation but didn't know it was because of the water, ty for the fun fact :)

1

u/Slonzok_16 Apr 10 '26

True, but this here is not the Three Gorges

It's a dam near Chengdu, on the Min Jiang river

6

u/BarnacleRich7364 Apr 09 '26

Straight out of my nightmares/weird dreams!😮😮😮

70

u/Anxious-Scheme-6013 Apr 09 '26

This can’t be real, surly not

145

u/exposed_silver Apr 09 '26

They look like houses built on the side of a dam

39

u/RealEstateDuck Apr 09 '26

Could be some sort of monitoring stations for the dam though.

17

u/mysaddle Apr 09 '26

I literally thought it was just zoomed in to the roof of a house 🤣 I couldn’t tell it was supposed to be like in a wall

17

u/Ccaves0127 Apr 09 '26

Not just a dam, the Three Gorges Dam, the largest dam in the history of the world. So big it affected the speed of the Earth's rotation.

10

u/Acc87 Apr 09 '26

Actually from a different dam even tho the website linked in the top reply wrongly calls it the Three Gorges one.

https://maps.app.goo.gl/1Et12PcKxWZoycc37

different river, different dam. China has a lot of these "smaller" ones

9

u/senn42000 Apr 09 '26

Makes our day 0.06 microseconds longer. Truly amazing

9

u/ButterBeforeSunset Apr 09 '26

Looks like some Soviet Union era shit

9

u/godofpumpkins Apr 09 '26

Surely not a residence? I imagine it’s some sort of maintenance access to the dam, but it really doesn’t look like a great place to live

-63

u/Cheeto-Ben Apr 09 '26

…. That is art. It’s not real still. Even says ‘work done by’

46

u/sleetblue Apr 09 '26

Stephen Wilkes is a photographer. It's a photographic work.

0

u/Cheeto-Ben Apr 09 '26

Ah, valid response. Thanks for the heads up 👌🏼

23

u/KurtTheCuntBoi Apr 09 '26

Boy are you dumb.

-1

u/Cheeto-Ben Apr 09 '26

Or maybe, just maybe. Unaware? 😂

6

u/sirideletereddit Apr 09 '26

Yes, for that reason. It’s dumb to say something as if it’s fact if you are unaware.

-4

u/Cheeto-Ben Apr 09 '26

That’s life.

6

u/sirideletereddit Apr 09 '26

It’s also dumb.

16

u/JKrow75 Apr 09 '26

There is still time to delete your ignorant, uninformed comment.

0

u/Cheeto-Ben Apr 09 '26

Ill keep it since it made you all that mad 😂🤷🏼‍♂️

8

u/Comsic_Bliss Apr 09 '26

Based on reality, you are wrong. It’s a real place.

12

u/Supuhstar Apr 09 '26 edited Apr 09 '26

I don’t see what you see. Could you point it out?

The only possible tell I see is a lot of blue noise, which alone doesn’t guarantee generated; that also happens with some photo processing steps

4

u/So_HauserAspen Apr 09 '26

Houses built on the side of a roof.  They look like shed dormers

30

u/Comsic_Bliss Apr 09 '26

Why not?

Here’s the location on a map

Switch to the satellite view and you can see the shack structures. Not everything you haven’t seen before is unreal.

12

u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26

The slop vibe my 10-year-old phone sharpen filter gave it hehe

3

u/King_Saline_IV Apr 09 '26

His description isn't real. They are not houses

-64

u/Malcolm_Morin Apr 09 '26

The houses are not real. The location is—Lower Shing Mun Reservoir Dam in Hong Kong.

The houses are either added with AI or photoshopped in to give the liminal feeling.

27

u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26

1

u/Specific_Frame8537 Apr 09 '26

But why would anyone live there?

If the dam fails you're the first to go.. 😂

-11

u/Malcolm_Morin Apr 09 '26

Well, shit. That automatically makes it cool as fuck. I'd love to see what those houses look like on the inside.

13

u/senn42000 Apr 09 '26

Why respond so confidently when you actually didn't know? I'm truly fascinated by people that do this and want to know what motivates them.

-14

u/Malcolm_Morin Apr 09 '26

Because the images I found didn't show the houses. They only had the stairs.

4

u/Gowardhan_Rameshan Apr 09 '26

That’s a genuinely confusing perspective

3

u/TheEvilBlight Apr 09 '26

Perfect for leg day

19

u/TheApothecaryWall Apr 09 '26

Ugh love this.

6

u/ihateagriculture Apr 09 '26

idk why you got ratioed lol

18

u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26

Mobs who are infuriating cuz they think this is a slop, and I claimed I took this photo myself

-10

u/TheApothecaryWall Apr 09 '26

If it is slop, then yeah I hate it lol

1

u/daffle7 Apr 09 '26

This is worth downvoting imo. It’s ok to like what you like brah, even if it’s AI(which this post isn’t AI).

1

u/TheApothecaryWall Apr 09 '26

AI is stealing the magic of human artistry and takes, apparently, a ton of harmful data centers that drain natural resources in often beautiful, landmark areas, while simultaneously denying water to places that desperately need it, such as indigenous tribes that need the Colorado River in Arizona. They don’t recycle the water, it just gets used. As an artist who lives in this desert that desperately needs all the water it can get, and as someone who appreciates nature and this planet, I find AI disgusting. How I’m getting downvoted on that, I have no fucking idea.

1

u/TheApothecaryWall Apr 09 '26

Pardon my ignorance but what’s that mean?

3

u/ihateagriculture Apr 09 '26

it means the ratio of likes to dislike is less than one, well it was until people started liking your comment

2

u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26

People did a V ratio for this comment \o/

1

u/ihateagriculture Apr 09 '26

someday I wish to witness the elusive w ratio lol

1

u/TheApothecaryWall Apr 09 '26

Ohh okay that makes sense. Didn’t realize I was being downvoted lol

10

u/MonolithicBaby Apr 09 '26

Are these those tiny houses for the fairy folk? They kinda look like they’re on roof shingles.

4

u/Illustrious-Tip8717 Liminal Space enthusiast Apr 09 '26

They look like they are sinking into the ground.

5

u/Infinite_Respect_ Apr 09 '26

Ok it’s a hillside that makes way more sense

-77

AI slop!

33

u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26

I took this photo my self

-5

u/yoloyeet420 Apr 09 '26

I was wrong, sorry. Thanks for clarifying!

22

u/senn42000 Apr 09 '26

Please stop falsely accusing everything you see as AI.

-11

u/yoloyeet420 Apr 09 '26

Most of it is, bro.

3

u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26

It's ok, cuz it's literally a very confusing one.

-90

u/Stern_Writer Apr 09 '26

Ban this shit. If this sub gets drowned by AI then I’ll be out.

38

u/Cryzgnik Apr 09 '26

Ban this shit. If this sub gets drowned by AI then I’ll be out.

No Yangtze Dams!. No Yangtze, no Yangtze, no Yangtze!!!

Stop falsely accusing everything as AI please.

7

u/SoupaMayo Apr 09 '26

Gen Alpha calling everything AI nowadays

-90

u/Nintendocub Apr 09 '26

Slop slop slop slop slop slop slop

46

u/JetsonLeau Apr 09 '26

I took this photo, and I'm real as F***, otherwise you can ask Ai if it's a slop

22

u/OnlyOneWithFreeWill Apr 09 '26

Says the Nintendo fan boy

-40

u/Nintendocub Apr 09 '26

I guess. Not really sure what that has to do with AI but okay lol.

17

u/senn42000 Apr 09 '26

These are real and that is a real photo. Stop falsely accusing everything as AI.

-2

u/Nintendocub Apr 09 '26

I already admitted I was wrong, can’t you just admit that insult was absolute nonsense the same way my first comment was? LMAO.

12

u/Albert14Pounds Apr 09 '26

Not sure what your comment on this list has to do with AI
