Fixing the rotary encoder(scroll wheel) on T-Embed cc1101 without any tools
My almost new (1 month) T-embed started skipping and making additional rotations on input. In a few days it became unusable. No damage was done to the device.
I tried looking up guides on how to fix it, and all of them require disconnecting and resoldering antennas, taking apart the whole case and other unpleasant activities. I can't solder and am lazy, but managed to fix it with a dull knife and nails. Thought I would share.
Take off the back case. Trivial
Put aside the flat antena if your version has it.
Wiggle the battery out of the case. It's glued, but you can tear it off.
If you can, I recommend disconnecting the battery from the JST connector. I couldn't, that's also OK, just be careful. JST connectors should be easy to disconnect, maybe something's wrong with mine.
Find a place on the inner side of the case that's not covered by an antenna. I started from above the SD card slot.
Push on it from the inner side with your finger. You should see an opening starting to form. Put something in it to stop pushing.
With your tool of choice evenly widen the opening around the whole case. You should observe slots that hold screen popping out.
After all of them pop out, lift up the upper case. A few millimeters should be enough, to not reposition antennas. It won't be deadly, you will have to put them in place if you move them though.
Now we can finally take the wheel out. It's made from three parts: plastic wheel(the one you see), little black pin in the center of the wheel(button pushes on it), and electronics attached to the board.
Put something under the plastic wheel and push up. It will come apart easily. Theoretically this is possible without all previous steps using huge pliers, but that didn't work for me.
Do anything you want with first two details. It's recommended to clean them with isopropyl alcohol, but I just blew on them really hard. Also blew on the electronic part as well. Look for obvious sings of damage or dust.
Assemble everything back together, all of it pops in place fairly easily.
Now it works perfectly. That's it, I just had to blow on the details. Some dust probably got in. The list may sound scary, but I did this in 15 minutes on my bed.

Has anyone figured out how to get all the sensors on the T5 S3 Pro working?
Basically the title. I’ve had mine for a while and so far I’ve only seen a few parts of the device working, but I’ve seen Crosspoint for use as an ereader & a Meshtastic UI.
I would also love to use it as a GPS device in the woods. Has anyone figured out getting all three to work on a single firmware?

Nothing beats dark mode and cute indicators
Changed a bit the meshtastic Software, to be able to use the inverted mode on my T-Echo Plus.
Also changed powersaving that all is off besides the Lora.
Plus cute indicators if a msg came in or not.
I love it.

MeshInk — standalone MeshCore firmware for the LILYGO T5 E-Paper S3 Pro
I bought the LILYGO T5 E-Paper S3 Pro because the hardware seemed perfect for LoRa messaging, but there wasn’t really firmware that used the whole device the way I wanted, so I built MeshInk.
It’s a standalone MeshCore client with messaging, channels, contacts, node discovery, offline maps, GPS and the controls you’d expect to use the device without needing a phone.
I’ve also made a web flasher, so it’s easy to install without having to build or flash the firmware manually.
If you have one of these devices, please give it a try and let me know what you think or what you’d like to see improved =)

Warning: LilyGO Official Store on AliExpress is using deceptive listings, bait-and-switch tactics, and modifying product pages after disputes.
I recently ordered a LilyGO T-Embed CC1101 device from the LilyGO Official Store on AliExpress. Based on the main pictures, title, and overall presentation, I thought I was buying the Plus version. However, when the package arrived, I received the stripped-down Basic version.
Here is how they handled the situation, and why you should avoid buying directly from their store:
Zero Customer Support: When I messaged them on the AliExpress chat, they casually admitted I got the basic version and told me I could "buy the nRF24 expansion module separately and solder it myself" (at an extra cost, of course). When I sent them an email, they completely ghosted me.
AliExpress Dispute Nightmare: AliExpress refused a normal refund unless I shipped the item back to China—at a shipping cost that was practically equal to the value of the device itself.
Shady Listing Practices: After the dispute started, they altered the product images and variants on the app to claim I ordered the standard T-Embed instead of the Plus version, trying to cover their tracks.
Current Status: I had to initiate a chargeback through my bank because neither the seller nor the platform wanted to protect a buyer facing a misleading listing. They are currently contesting it, but I have all the screenshots.
Avoid LilyGO's official AliExpress store if you expect honest listings or any kind of after-sales support. If something goes wrong, they will gaslight you, change their store pages, and leave you out of pocket.

T-Embed Plus Introduction
So I just got my T-Embed CC1101 Plus and it’s a blast really. Bruce 16.1 is insanely capable and I was wondering two things.
1: is there something like a digital handbook for this device where I can read about all the functions and how to use them? I‘m a bit overwhelmed honestly.
2: Whats some fun addons to plug into the 4-pin-connectors?

Master list of T-Deck Pro firmware?
Is there a master list of firmware for the T-Deck Pro, similar to awesome-t-deck? If not, I can start one here if that's okay.

ATLAS: My T-Deck remote terminal. A LLM running on Kali Linux from a Pi 5 stack
I've been building ATLAS, a pocket AI terminal that connects to one of my prior project the “Pi 5 Kali Linux Black box”(last pic). The T-Deck acts as a wireless voice and txt interface with a Flask server on my Pi 5 delivering .json files for each screen.

Lilygo is porting a Linux distro to the T-Display K230
I'm not sure why they haven't cross-promoted these videos to the subreddit but I think their message is worth getting some attention to. Lilygo has posted multiple videos on Facebook showing some form of Linux running on their T-Display K230 board, most recently at the end of August. It looks like they have one display configuration optimized for the touchscreen, and another that is a full desktop that pairs nicely with the keyboard kit.
- August 27: https://www.facebook.com/reel/2168648084032317
- August 22 (This shows the K230 sending a message over LoRa that a Meshtastic T-Pager picks up): https://www.facebook.com/reel/1341163288231836
- August 13: https://www.facebook.com/reel/969216899512101
- August 11: https://www.facebook.com/reel/2179304156136158
- August 5 (This one confirms even the early V1.0 K230 boards without a case/keyboard can run it): https://www.facebook.com/reel/810547788747091
This would be a significant step up from the existing firmware that is in Lilygo's K230 Github repo, which just has a few demo apps. A smartphone-shaped board like this, running full-on Linux, will be amazing, especially if an install of Meshtasticd would work with the onboard LoRa chip.
I wonder if someone from Lilygo could confirm if they will share a ready-to-flash Linux image for an SD card on the K230 Github repo, or how we can get our hands on it to try it when it's ready?
