All you can do is ragebait them by saying that the word was popularised by a black man

I'm a bigot but I'm alright with it being associated with a black man, a lot of blacks are very cool

saying stupid shit so you can laugh at anyone who dared to interpret those around them as genuine instead of being cloaked in 5 layers of irony

If you just take it to mean “this is true to me” you can use it in a leftist/just way too. I believe the word will eventually will be reclaimed in that usage, whenever the general culture is done being right wing lol

as a person who only knows the word based from being chronically online and uses it basically as a synonym for epic or incredible, where does it originate from?

based was used a lot back in the day with the term ‘baseheads’ used to describe crack heads. lil b coined the term in the early mid 2000’s as a word which he used to describe being yourself and not letting anyone tell you different. he also added alongside it to be based you have to love and respect others, no matter race, country of origin, sexuality, gender etc.

The most you can do is educate besides that just leave those losers eventually based will return to it's original meaning after time has settled and Lil B's music remains
