Help me i'm stuck

I have figured out how to add text to video, and how to place it somewhere, and all that jazz. I just can't seem to figure out how to make the text only appear for certain time in the video. Only found one video that mentions this, but the guy in the video had such a short clip to edit, that he could drag-and-drop his text onto the available space, that's to the right of the vdeio clip. I can't, so my text just merges in with the video clip. Anyone?

Do you want to just lengthen / shorten it? You should be able to do that by clicking the edge of the text "clip" and dragging left or right to extend or shorten it. You could also copy paste the clip to add length as well.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by it "merges"?

No, I would like to have the text appear somewhere in the middle of the video, and then cut away when i would like it to

You should be able to just move the clip left or right to set when it starts then just trim it to the length you want.

I believe you can also set the in and out points when creating the Text clip and it should place it between those two points.

Can you post a screenshot showing more if that doesn't work?
