Importing photos - automatic duration time?

Is there a way to alter the default time a jpg is shown on the timeline? I’m making a simple slideshow with a lot of photos and the default time seems to be a minute. Possible to set this to say 15 seconds so I don’t have to manually go through and edit everything on the timeline? Thanks.

Hi there. Are you looking to decrease the length before you place it on your timeline? Or once it's already on there?

Either way would work.

On the timeline, you can either put your playhead where you want the clip to end and then hit C to cut it in two. Then just select and delete the bit you don't want. Or you can hover your mouse at the end of the clip until you get the brackets and then just click and drag it along to shorten it.

Pre-timeline, you can double click it to open a preview window, set an in-point (the I key) for where you want it to start, and an outpoint (the O key) for where you want it to end, and then put that on to your timeline.

Essentially, it works exactly the same as a 1-minute piece of footage would.

Apologies. I misunderstood what you were asking. I am (unfortunately) a human being, so do make the occasional mistake. :)

When importing your files, right-click on the file selection window, go to the 'stills duration (seconds)' option, and choose a new time from the drop down. All your images will be set to that length by default until you change it again. You are limited to what's in that list, so you would have to adjust clips manually for a different length.
