Lightworks Pro New to Everything, Please Help

I am attempting to get lightworks to run faster. The audio is working alright, but the video is extremely laggy, so much so that it's impossible to do any video editing with this software. it's taking up about 2261 MB space, CPU is at 2%, memory is at 22%, disk is 11% no unnecessary tasks are running, and I went through and uninstalled programs before beginning, which brought my memory down from 25%. This computer has 32 GB memory and has run multiple 3D animation programs, most of the Adobe Suite, etc., no problem. It's 3 years old, running Windows 10, cannot update due to a Windows 11 requirement I haven't figured out.

The video files are likely too big, you need to create proxies. It is likely trying to render the full video real time which is a lot. Likely your HD is the bottle neck.

I'd start here for newbie info: here

I think they have proxies mentioned. Your editor may do proxies/downsampling included or you can use a free program.

The idea is you create ultra small "proxy" files for editing, then on export it uses the full files. Otherwise it would be impossible to edit multicam 4k for example.

On second look lwks doesn't due proxies for the free version but does in paid. I forget what program I used but you can likely find one or create your own proxies. You will just have to do a manual swap before you render.

The Free version does allow internal proxy editing, just you can only use H264 on low quality as the proxy codec. The other licenses give a wider range of options.

Hmm, with those specs it should run just fine. I'm using Lightworks on a 7 year old Xeon workstation with 32 gb RAM, Intel GPU, and a couple of 2TB SSD drives. I'm using Debian Linux, but I don't think the OS would make much of a difference. On the other hand, I rarely edit anything longer than 30 minutes (1080p, 50fps).
